Tracy has been practicing yoga consistently for about eight years, after many years as a “drop in” student. What once felt like exercise began to shift into something deeper after she went on a retreat at Spirit Rock with her daughter. “That’s when I realized what a true yoga practice could encompass.”

Since finding Sukha, that understanding has continued to grow. “At Sukha, I found my place. Not just within myself, but within my community and humanity.” Over time, her sense of belonging in her body and in the world has taken root. She said, “So many things change and evolve with yoga.” Her mind has calmed, her body has shifted, and her heart has expanded. “I have never left a Sukha class without feeling better than when I came in.”

Her advice is simple. “Just come and breathe with us. Let your practice be what you need.”

Now retired, Tracy is enjoying a new chapter filled with travel, long walks, and trying new things. “Trying anything at least once” has always been her motto.

Join Kristen Firpo and Bridgette Corridan for another installment of the Sound + Script event.

Three months ago, we gathered to set intentions for the year ahead through writing and sound.

Now it’s time to pause and ask: What’s shifted? What’s emerging? What wants refinement?

Join us for a special follow-up evening of Script & Sound—a space to reflect on where the year has taken you so far, reconnect with your inner voice, and realign through the power of intentional writing and immersive sound.

Whether you joined us in January or are coming for the first time, this experience will help you review, refine, and reset the direction of the months ahead.

Pause. Listen. Write. Realign.

Kate first found yoga at 15 while trying to get out of PE class. She wrote a letter to her principal, found a class that fit her schedule, and walked into a yoga room without knowing anything about it. She started going every day. “I had no idea what I was doing or what yoga even meant,” she says. That was 25 years ago.

It wasn’t until later, after a serious accident, that yoga took on a deeper meaning. Returning to the mat was humbling. “My body was different. It took months to get back into poses that once felt easy.”

Through that experience, yoga became a way to appreciate her body and stay present. “It’s the only reality we really have.”

At Sukha, she finds something special in every teacher. “Everyone is amazing.” She especially holds gratitude for Laura and Linda, who supported her during her recovery.

Her advice to beginners is simple. “Listen to your intuition. Trust your body. Love what it can do. Be open to the journey.”
Off the mat, Kate is a doula, a maker of tallow balm, and a single mom to two awesome humans. They love traveling together and are always dreaming up their next adventure.

The first thing we cut when we’re overwhelmed is the thing that would actually help.

We have so many distractions right now. Much of it designed to create fear and overwhelm.

And when fear wins, we stop doing the things that would actually serve us. We numb. We distract. We find the money for the things that pull us further from ourselves and somehow decide we can’t afford the things that bring us back.

It’s a crazy cycle.

This month at Sukha Yoga, our message is simple: Clear the Path. Let the Energy Flow.

Because when you show up to your mat, something shifts. The pain moves through. You get access to your intuition. Your clarity. Your deep knowing that all is well.

Sukha is not just a place to stretch. It is a sanctuary. And whatever your circumstances, there is a place for you here.

Swipe through for this month’s full message, and come back to your mat.

Teri first stepped into a yoga class about 30 years ago. By the end of that very first class, she had completely let go of her workday thoughts. “I knew then there was something really magical about yoga, and I wanted more of that.”

Still, it wasn’t until she joined Sukha that she committed to a consistent practice.

Now a founding member since we opened in 2014, she has been part of our community from the very beginning.

One of the biggest changes she noticed was physical. She used to wake up with body aches and blamed it on getting older. After practicing regularly, those aches disappeared. But the deeper shift was internal. “The calm and grounded feeling I experience during yoga carries into the rest of my day.” Over time, she has developed a quieter mind.

Teri encourages new students to start slow, listen to their bodies, use props, and rest in child’s pose when needed. “Slow and steady works much better than comparing yourself to others and pushing too hard too fast. It’s a practice, not a race.”

Now enjoying early retirement, Teri fills her days with travel, hiking Marin’s beautiful trails, and spending time with family, friends, and the furry ones. She also treasures the yoga retreats she has attended with Sukha teachers, calling them “a beautiful way to deepen your practice and develop friendships.”

For Teri, yoga has been a steady source of calm, connection, and quiet joy for decades.

Nathan had wanted to try yoga for years, but it wasn’t until early 2024 that he and his wife finally gave it a try. They started with free classes at their gym and quickly got hooked. Since then, they’ve been practicing several times a week, and finding Sukha has taken their practice even deeper.

“I feel calmer and more peaceful. Physically, I’m stronger, more flexible, and my balance and awareness have improved. I’m no longer bumping my head on the kitchen cabinet,” he jokes.
He especially loves classes with Tara, Ali, Cara, and Laura. “Each one challenges or nourishes me in a different way. The teachers at Sukha are so knowledgeable and kind. I feel like I’m in really good hands.”

His advice to beginners? “Don’t try to be perfect. This is your practice. Go at your own pace. As Cara says, a little bit of the pose is still the pose.”

Off the mat, Nathan is a middle school Social Studies teacher, a musician, and a writer. He’s finishing edits on his first book, How to Be a Dad, and you might catch him playing guitar at HopMonk’s open mic night. He and his wife Anna have five grown kids and continue making wellness a shared journey.
