Our Memory Care Neighborhood celebrated Reading Across America to Mrs. Rudy’s second grade class at Novi Woods Elementary. We read “My Magical Choices” by Becky Cummings, which falls in line with the classes curriculum about making positive and safe choices. We are so thankful for Mrs. Rudy and her class, thank you! 📚📖

A great start to a Friday with our local Novi Chamber of Commerce for Chamber 101 here at Waltonwood Twelve Oaks! We were able to discuss benefits of being a part of our chamber, along with connect with new and old members in our community.

We are so proud that some of our Memory Care residents were able to complete 40 cards for the Children’s Hospital today for Random Acts of Kindness Week.

💘Love is in the air (and so is the aroma of a chocolate fountain ⛲️) here at Waltonwood Twelve Oaks! Chef Jake and Basma, our Independent Living Life Enrichment Manager, put on a beautiful Valentine’s Day dinner that created heartfelt memories.

We spread the love with our friends and neighbors this evening, and indulged in some amazing desserts and listened to some sweet melodies of this evenings talent, a harpist. It was a beautiful evening!

Our Independent Living residents were able to visit the revived historical site that shaped our city of Detroit, and we’re so proud to see it in all its glory!

Black History Month is here, and this week our Assisted Living residents ventured down to Detroit to enjoy lunch at Joe Louis Southern Kitchen- where we had the best meal and were met with great hospitality.

A little history on Joe Louis: “… Born on May 13, 1914. The Barrow home in Lafayette, Alabama… but migrated to Detroit, and Joe began learning the craft of cabinet making and taking violin lessons. He was about 11-years-old when a friend introduced him to boxing. As a teenager, Louis gained a reputation as a top-flight amateur fighter. He dropped “Barrow” from his name, hoping to keep his boxing a secret from his mother. But winning 50 of 54 amateur fights – 43 by knockouts — brought headlines on newspaper sports pages in Detroit and around the Midwest. It was impossible to hide his remarkable power, speed, and innate tactical mind — skills that helped Louis become one of the greatest boxers in history.”
