The King of Rock and Roll has left the building!
That’s a wrap on our Elvis week here within our Assisted Living Neighborhood- we enjoyed a whole week of music, dancing, and Elvis’ favorite peanut butter and banana sandwiches. We took time to celebrate and reminisce on the late singer and enjoyed bringing Graceland to our Twelve Oaks community.

Our Memory Care Neighborhood went totally far out and had their own Woodstock celebration in honor of its anniversary. Woodstock, also known as the “3 Days of Peace & Music” festival, which was a novelty of its time. Woodstock forever shaped the entertainment industry and it was a monumental cultural movement.

Our Waltonwood Twelve Oaks family was able to give back in support of National Clear the Shelter campaign, which our community, along with our other sister communities, were able to spearhead multiple pet supply drives, fundraising & adoption events, which helps bring more awareness and efforts on getting senior animals adopted from the shelter and helping them find their forever home. We would like to thank everyone who helped support our community with our pet supply drive and helping our senior animals out. We stopped by Almost Home-NO KILL Rescue to drop off our donations this past week, and we are thankful we were able to help!

🍟 Happy Fry-day! 🍟

This week our residents in Independent Living took to the kitchen to create homemade Juilenne French Fries.

It’s believed that Belgians began the process of frying strips of potatoes between the late 17th and early 18th centuries - so why do they even call them French Fries? Because French was the native language of Belgium at that time.

According to Food, Inc., fries were popularized by WWI soldiers returning from Europe, and then overtime, drive-in restaurants, and the beginning of the Fast Food industry began; leaving fries to be a beloved side dish to all.
