Meet Nicholas Bolz, MD — a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon with a passion for getting people back in motion. A Novi native and Detroit Catholic Central alum, Dr. Bolz followed his curiosity from the University of Michigan all the way to advanced training in complex hip and knee replacement. Brains, dedication, and a little Wolverine grit? Check. 🟦🟨
After earning his MD from New York Medical College, Dr. Bolz completed elite research and clinical training at NYU, Detroit Medical Center and the University of Western Ontario. As a second-generation orthopaedic surgeon, he even had the rare opportunity to train alongside his father—proving that excellence in joint replacement really does run in the family.
Today, Dr. Bolz specializes in the full spectrum of hip and knee care, from non-operative arthritis management to advanced, minimally invasive and robotic-assisted joint replacement—even in the most complex cases. Known for his thoughtful, individualized approach, he partners closely with patients to find the right solution at the right time, always with one goal in mind: helping them return to the activities they love, stronger and more confident than before.

Dr. William Kesto is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic sports medicine surgeon with a passion for keeping people moving. He specializes in advanced knee ligament reconstruction and replacement, shoulder and elbow surgery, cartilage restoration, and patellofemoral disorders. He also brings cutting-edge tech to the OR with robotic-assisted knee replacement and offers regenerative options like PRP and stem cell injections.
Trained at Cincinnati Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center, with roots at Wayne State, Detroit Medical Center, and St. John Providence, Dr. Kesto pairs top-tier training with real-world experience. (Fun fact: his academic journey also includes degrees from Georgetown and the University of Michigan.)
When he’s not caring for patients, Dr. Kesto is actively involved in sports medicine research, helps train the next generation of surgeons as Assistant Program Director of the Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Henry Ford Providence, and stays engaged nationally through leading orthopedic societies.
And he’s fluent in Aramaic and Arabic and is known to employ these languages colorfully on the golf course.

David C. Markel, MD, FAOA is now a part of MCO👊. He is a fellowship-trained hip and knee reconstructive specialist who cares for patients with both simple and complex joint problems. He completed advanced training at the Hospital for Special Surgery and is known for his expertise in primary and revision joint replacement.
He serves as Medical Director of Orthopedic Surgery and Orthopedic Residency Director at Henry Ford Providence Hospital and has authored over 150 research papers. Dr. Markel is also a member of elite societies such as The Hip Society and The Knee Society. For all his accolades, he is the first to admit that his trademark pursuit of excellence has now been artfully moderated by the wise and gentle guidance of his grandchildren.

MCO is excited to announce the addition of Jefferey Michaelson, MD — board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon and sports-medicine fanatic with a passion for keeping knees, shoulders, and hips in winning shape. A familiar name across Southeast Michigan, he’s served everyone from high-school athletes at Detroit Catholic Central to pros during his timewith the Detroit Tigers.
Trained at the Cleveland Clinic (yes, he worked with the Browns, Cavs, and even Cleveland’s former WNBA team), Dr. Michaelson also earned AOA honors at Wayne State, where he completed both medical school and his orthopedic residency.

👋 Meet Stephanie Nulty, MD— our newest Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in the hand, wrist, and upper extremity!
Born and raised in Macomb, Dr. Nulty is passionate about helping patients get back to the activities they love through expert, individualized care 🙌

She graduated as valedictorian from Michigan State and then earned her MD at the University of Michigan where she was honored for her work in Bioethics. And, yes, she manages both sides of the rivalry with her husband, also a surgeon.

She completed her Orthopaedic Surgery residency at Henry Ford Health, and advanced her training with a Hand Surgery fellowship at the University of Arizona where she perfected everything from helping patients use their mouse less painfully to severe crush injuries of the Hand. In her spare time she also obtained an MBA from the University of Cambridge in the UK 🎓💼

Outside the OR, you’ll find her weight training, hiking, or exploring northern Michigan.

We’re thrilled to welcome Dr. Nulty to the team — keeping hands strong and Michigan moving! 👊
