Dr. Kolachalam isa General Surgeon trained in advanced laparoscopic techniques and endoscopic procedures, including the newest technology in robotic procedures. While he does a broad range of general surgery, his main interest is in minimally invasive abdominal surgery and endocrine surgery. Dr. Kolachalam is in private practice in General Surgery with privileges at Providence Hospital, Beaumont Hospital, and St. He is part of the teaching faculty at these hospitals, and is also a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at Wayne State Medical School. In 2010, 2011, 2012, & 2013, Dr. Kolachalam's patients have voted him their favorite physician of the year. In 2011, 2012, & 2013, Dr. Kolochalam's peers in general surgery have voted for him to receive the Top Doc Award. Hour Magazine showcased all doctors in Metro Detroit that were voted for this prestigious honor! Dr. Kolachalam is dedicated to providing state of the art surgical, diagnostic and treatment technology, as well as offering support groups and community resources. Dr. Kolachalam's strives for patient interaction that is a cut above the rest. His patients are the most comfortable possible while giving them a comprehensive treatment plan that is tailored to the patients specific needs. Dr. Kolachalam is now offering a minimally invasive surgery using the da Vinci surgery system. Below is a video demonstrating the precision, control and dexterity that this robotic surgical system offers. This new procedure offers the ability for Dr. Kolachalam to make only one small incision versus laparoscopic surgery needs 4 small incisions. Dr. Kolachalam is able to offer this surgical technique for gall bladder surgery (cholecystectomy), Colon surgery, and many more. This video is amazing!
