The Economic Alliance for Michigan announced their annual Hospital Maternity Care Awards. Nine hospitals in Michigan recognized for and .
Hospitals were evaluated in four key areas: cesarean rates (≤ 23.6% of low-risk deliveries), episiotomy rates (≤ 5% of deliveries), screening of newborns for jaundice (90% or greater), and preventing blood clots in women undergoing cesarean sections (90% or greater).
Along with the awards, the Maternity Care Project updated the Birthing Center Safety Ratings with the Fall 2025 Hospital Safety Grades provided by The Leapfrog Group.
“The birthing center safety ratings provide meaningful, evidence-based data for parents to review before choosing where to give birth. This ensures they can make a more informed decision and advocate for the safest possible care for their family,” said Stacy Leick, Vice President of EAM.
