💚 Let me tell you why I’m a believer in medical mj….my mother was on the highest dose legally allowed of OxyContin and was on this for a period of about 15 years. My mother passed at the age of 57 of a heart attack. Oxy’s took my mother’s mind, her teeth, her heart, and ultimately her life. My mother struggled with anxiety, PTSD, depression, and chronic pain. Oxy’s caused her a host of other medical issues that she just couldn’t survive.
I married my now husband in 2019. He has been an advocate for medical cannabis since I met him. He is a US Veteran who started out at 320 lbs with high cholesterol, pain, and anxiety and was on a pretty long list of medications . Since he became a regular cannabis medication user he has been able to rid himself of anxiety medication, blood pressure medication, and cholesterol medication. He has lost about 100 lbs and his yearly physicals show him to be healthy.
I, myself, use medical cannabis in a non-traditional way. I utilize a more balanced medication that isn’t grown for just the THC (my body doesn’t tolerate it well). I use raw cannabis for cancer prevention (breast cancer 2020),pain and inflammation.
They take away from all this is that this plant can actually medicate a body, it isn’t just being used to inebriate someone. There are those of us who are using it in a way that doesn’t effect our mental competency. Also had my mother, who passed in 2015, been given a natural approach to medicate herself I may still have her with me. I do not believe that a person should be held back because there are those out there who misuse “by government standard” because there are those out there who misuse all medication by those same standards.
I’m an advocate for a person being allowed to be in charge of their own way of life. Most of us want and need to take the wheel as it comes to a healthier way of life. Medications like opiates, blood pressure medications, stomach medications, cholesterol meds, and a host of others come with a multitude of side effects which lead to the need for more medications to mange those side effects. So for me I will continue to fight and tell my story to those who will listen.💚
