The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for our region from now until 6 p.m. Tuesday. Cooling centers will be open at local libraries across Livingston County this week. They will operate during regular library business hours. Please call ahead to confirm hours at your location.

Beat the heat with a few simple tips:
🫗 Stay hydrated
👚 Wear loose, light clothing
🏠 Stay in shade or indoors during hottest times of day

I'd like to take the opportunity to express my appreciation to the members of the ambulance corp. To the many people in the past, who started and maintained this service, to the folks presently serving, a huge THANK YOU! Your volunteerism and community-minded beliefs are what have allowed this corp to survive. We are one of the true volunteer corps left, and that is due to your selfless dedication and commitment.

To the community, we thank you for your continued support and encouragement.

To the many agencies that partner with us, and always respond to our call for help, you are greatly appreciated.

Please say a thank you to all these folks to let them know that you value their services to your community.

In closing, I pray you never need us, but if you do, I hope you will find comfort in knowing we will come.

Today marks the first day of National EMS Appreciation Week, and I would like to invite you to join me in expressing our gratitude to the members who comprise the Nunda Volunteer Ambulance Service.

It is an opportunity to celebrate the men and women who respond to the call for help when needed. We are blessed to have a strong and dedicated core group of volunteers to answer that call. It is through their commitment and teamwork that we exist. Over the last several years, this group of people has become a family, truly embodying dedication, teamwork, empathy, and a caring community spirit, for which I am beyond thankful.

Additionally, I would like to recognize and thank the following organizations and individuals whom we call when we need help: the Nunda Fire Department, the Nunda Police Department, the Livingston County Sheriff's Office, the New York State Troopers, the Livingston County EMS, and our neighboring EMS districts of Mount Morris and Dansville.

Thank you,
Tom Burt
President, Nunda EMS

If you have the opportunity to thank these members individually, please take the time to do so.
