For decades, I have cared for patients whose pain was dismissed and whose diagnoses were delayed for far too long. This work is for them—where rigorous basic science and clinical care come together to uncover the true causes of endometriosis and improve patients’ lives. I am proud to be part of this journey.

Honored to be speaking at The Endometriosis Foundation of America’s 17th Annual Patient Day on Sunday, March 8, 2026, in New York City.

Patient Day is a powerful gathering of patients, families, advocates, researchers, and clinicians—created to share knowledge, advance care, and remind those living with that they are not alone.

Through education and open conversation, we continue to move the field forward and empower patients with the information they deserve.

I look forward to joining colleagues and patient advocates to discuss the latest advancements in endometriosis diagnosis, treatment, and surgical care—and to learn from the lived experiences of this community.

For those unable to attend in person, a virtual option is available, with access to select sessions and recordings after the event.

Pelvic pain during breast cancer treatment is not always “just menopause” or stress.

Hormonal therapies like tamoxifen can behave very differently across tissues—blocking estrogen in the breast while stimulating endometrial and endometrial-like tissue elsewhere. For some patients, this can unmask or worsen endometriosis, leading to new or escalating pelvic pain, abnormal bleeding, and inflammation.

Endometriosis can coexist with breast cancer. Symptoms may flare during treatment. And ignoring them can delay proper care and significantly impact quality of life.

Patients deserve careful evaluation, multidisciplinary collaboration, and individualized management—especially when two hormone-driven conditions intersect.

Progress in endometriosis care depends on both science and policy. As founder of the Seckin Endometriosis Research Center at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, I’m grateful to Congresswoman Nikema Williams and the House Endometriosis Caucus for creating space for patient advocates and researchers to speak directly to lawmakers about the urgent need for sustained research funding.

There is nothing “silent” about — the only thing being silenced is patients. Too many are told their symptoms are “normal,” “in their head,” or “not severe enough,” leaving real inflammation, damage, and infertility dismissed or overlooked.

“No pain” does not mean “no endometriosis.” Up to 1 in 4 women with the disease have what’s often called “silent endometriosis” — a form that can cause chronic inflammation, ovarian endometriomas, tubal damage, and implantation failure without the classic severe cramps or pelvic pain.

For many with “unexplained infertility,” recurrent implantation failure, or early miscarriages, this overlooked form of is the missing piece. Lesions can disrupt ovulation, create adhesions, and alter the uterine environment long before anyone takes their concerns seriously.

Your symptoms are real. Your experiences are valid. And you deserve to be heard.

"It has taken me a while to find the words to adequitly describe my experiences with Dr. Seckin and his amazing team.

By the time I showed up to Dr Seckin's office, I was in horrendous shape, having been in sharp decline for several months and a complex overall medical history. During my first visit, even with my brain fog and inability to articulate everything I needed to, I felt incredibly seen and understood. He pored over.." says Christie

“Dear Dr. Seckin, Dr. Seckin’s daughter, Delaney & the entire office,

I came in back in August very scared. For the first time in years I was told I had stage IV DIE in addition to a 12 cm cyst (which was actually much larger). I was met with much hesitation and resistance to downright refusal.

When I met Dr. Seckin for the first time he set me at ease with his confidence and great disposition. I almost felt like family from the start. I was in awe of how he achieves excellence in everything he does, from sailing to campaigning for sick women. I trusted you immediately and stopped at nothing to make sure you were my doctor.

I’m three days post-op and am so happy and blessed to do this with the Seckin family.

Love,
Christine Bonsura”
