The Employee Celebrations Committee at Montefiore Nyack Hospital recently hosted another successful Super Bowl Pool fundraiser, bringing staff together for a fun tradition that also supports a meaningful cause.

This year, the proceeds benefited BRIDGES, a local nonprofit dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities to live independently and participate fully in the community.

Thanks to the enthusiastic participation of employees, the initiative raised $800 for BRIDGES.

A special thank you to Dr. Semanczuk who generously donated his Super Bowl pool winnings back to BRIDGES, helping make this meaningful contribution possible.

Events like this reflect the spirit of generosity and community that lives within the Montefiore Nyack Hospital family. Thank you to all for participating!

Yesterday, the Montefiore Nyack Hospital's Lab and Blood Bank welcomed Foundation Board Members and staff for a behind-the-scenes tour to see where all the magic happens! Here are some incredible (and fun) facts about our lab:

* In 2025, a total of 1,400,361 tests were performed 🔬

* The lab maintained a strong compliance with quality indicators throughout last year and consistently met or exceeded targets. For example, the Emergency department turnaround in 2025 was >=95% ! ✔️

* The laboratory uses a pneumatic tube system to rapidly transport specimens from the patient care units to the lab. This allows samples to reach the lab within MINUTES instead of having to rely on manual transportation! The tubes are color coded per unit for easy identification. 🧪

* Some tests can be completed and resulted in as little as THREE minutes, enabling faster diagnosis and timely patient care. Monitor screens have been installed in the laboratory to continuously display pending tests, allowing the technical staff to track outstanding specimens and identify what requires immediate attention. This system ensures that staff can rapidly act on pending tests, minimize delays and maintain optimal turnaround times. 👩‍🔬

* FUN FACT: One of our lab team members is a musician and actively plays in a band 🎸🥁✨

We are always grateful for the opportunity to showcase the incredible work happening right here in Rockland County — from our Emergency Department and Cardiac services to our surgical and inpatient transformation.

We are so grateful to Amirah, a local high school student and Founder of Smiles for Miles, for once again sharing her heart with our patients.

For the second time, Amirah and her friends lovingly created more than 100 handmade cards to bring encouragement and joy to pediatric and senior patients during their hospital stay at 🏥 ❤️‍🩹

This beautiful labor of love reminds our patients that their community cares deeply about them.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Denis Troy, a former member of the Montefiore Nyack Hospital Board of Trustees. Denis served with dedication from 2017–2023 as a member of the Technology and Marketing Committees and was a familiar, supportive presence at Hospital and Foundation events.

Beyond the Hospital, Denis devoted decades of service to our community—as Deputy Town Supervisor of Orangetown, a former Rockland County Legislator, and a longtime supporter of many local organizations. His legacy of service was honored in December 2025 with the naming of the Denis Troy Athletic Complex.

Denis’s commitment to the health and well-being of our community will be deeply missed and long remembered.
