My specializations are anxiety, addiction, depression, grief, loss, transitions, career counseling, LGBTQ issues, stress management, relationship speed bumps, self-esteem, life review, and decision making. I employ a Cognitive-Behavioral approach, emphasizing the reality that what we tell ourselves affects both how we feel and our actions. I also like to mix in a taste of the psychodynamic perspective, exploring how our early experiences affect the now. Ultimately, I create a safe, non-judgmental, and trusting environment. If an office setting is not preferable, I do perform home visits. I worked as a bereavement counselor at Hospice and have been teaching as an undergraduate psychology and graduate counseling adjunct professor since 2008. My passion is meeting my clients where they are at and encouraging them to explore the healing process. I specialize in LGBTQ counseling, focusing specifically on the struggles gay men face in today's heterosexist society, whether single, dating, or in relationships.
