For anyone who is wondering me, Jason Bergmann, her mom and JJ, just picked Kari’s remains up in Nashville. We will be heading back home after lunch. We are planning on having a Celebration of Life get together at the New Douglas Community Center in New Douglas, Illinois on Saturday May 25th. The address is: 123 S Main St, New Douglas, Il 62074.

Update 1: we may have to move it to the following weekend because I forgot that this was memorial day weekend for the 25th… Will let you know more as we find out more details!

Update number two: the date has changed to June 15 which is also a Saturday, please adjust your calendars. She would’ve loved to seen everybody.

Dot those who were not aware, Kari unfortunately did not make it. She has passed on. She was the toughest person I’ve over met!

Things went bad! Lower organs are not going to make it. Neither is she.

JJ and I had to come to Nashville bc kari took a turn for the worse bc of all the BP meds other organs are trying to fail prays needed

Today we are waiting for her echo of her lower leg flow to come back to see if she is losing that they were unable to get her pulse in her feet
Blood pressure is requiring more medication to keep it up the medication has been lowered a little already and BP is holding steady right now
So I’d say a few 👶👸👣👣 back today but it’s still early

Holding on most of the meds so they can give her belly some rest and if her lactate rises they will take her for a ct of the abdomen

So the update for today are just to kind of let her rest she’s sedated slightly so her neurological exam is a little low again they’re talking about doing a scan not today maybe tomorrow or Friday in an order for the tube in her throat tonight damaged her vocal cords they are talking a possible trach that will be temporary it’ll give her more movement and it’s better off so it doesn’t damage any of her vocal cords

So she’s back in her room her chest is closed up and she’s off ECMO. They are going to put a line in to help her kidneys with dialysis and she is on the respirator to help with her breathing she was on dialysis and the respirator before so that’s not new they will be putting her back on the feeding tube as she progresses the dialysis should be next the respirator 🦶🏻🦶🏻🦶🏻🦶🏻🦶🏻is our moto

The plan for the day is to stay the course for now, gonna do a pic line for feeding and keep her comfy.

We are continuing at baby step pieces right now. We are talking about how to close her chest up, but she still has a lot of fluids so they’re trying to slowly get that down that way it doesn’t put too much pressure on the new heart

As always thanks to everyone for all the well wishes and prayers big and small thanks to everyone who reached out and continue to do so when Kari sees it she will cry for days after catching up on all the love!!

Guess who’s blinking and shaking her head yes to questions being asked! We saw her big beautiful brown eyes on FaceTime last night she’s waking up at her own pace her hands and feet have slight movement here and there

The plan for today is to continue monitoring her lungs 🫁

So today we went down on the ECMO machine to a 1 instead of 2 1/2 and the new heart is doing great! It’s possible we may be off it in the next day or two we will see
