We are sharing some essential information about dry eye awareness and UV safety in July.
Dry eye is a prevalent condition that affects individuals of all ages and can lead to various symptoms, including a stinging or burning sensation, redness, excessive tearing, itchy eyes, a sandy or gritty feeling, episodes of blurred vision, increased sensitivity to light, and discomfort with contact lenses.
If your dry eye is caused by eyelid irritation, it's crucial to take proper care of your eyelids. Here are some tips for eyelid care:
Use a warm compress to soothe your eyelids and help loosen any crust or debris.
Perform a digital massage to stimulate the meibomian glands and improve tear production.
Use an eyelid cleanser to gently remove dirt, oil, and makeup from your eyelids.
We have a range of dry eye products available in our office for your convenience, including EyePromise EZ Tears Vitamins (60 tablet bottle or a 3 pack with a slight discount), Bruder Masks (a warm compress), Retaine MGD or PM ointment drops, Pure & Clean Lid Prep (in spray or drop form), OcuSoft Lid Scrub, and Oasis
Preservative Free drops.
Outside of products, we also do dry eye treatments with prescribing medication or putting in punctal plugs. If symptoms are severe or not improving, we offer a procedure called Lipiflow to treat dry eyes. Lipiflow is a device that helps clear your meibomian glands, alleviating dry eye symptoms. The effects of this procedure can last up to a year or longer, depending on the individual.
If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, we encourage you to call or text our office to schedule an appointment. Early diagnosis and treatment can significantly improve your eye comfort and overall well-being.
Our experienced optometrists will thoroughly assess your condition, provide personalized treatment recommendations, and address any questions you may have. Dry Eye treatment and management is just one of our many specialties.
Thank you for choosing our practice for your eye care needs. We are committed to providing you with the best possible care and look forward to serving you.
