It can be hard to find a counselor to connect with young men, especially during the teen and young adult years. Between the stigma surrounding mental health care and feelings of discomfort talking about emotions, young men often just want to avoid engaging in therapy at all.

Our newest counselor, Alex DeMatteis, is here to help. He's worked as a high school administrator, school counselor, and teacher - and he's zoned in on how to help parents and their teenage sons deal with all of the difficulties that come with the age, from academic concerns, executive functioning struggles, and peer difficulties.

Alex can work with a range of labels and diagnoses, from anxiety and depression to neurodivergent diagnoses, like ADHD and austism. He specifically sees clients in the evenings and weekends via telehealth, and is under the clinical supervision of Emily Kircher-Morris, LPC.
