For my perimenopausal women! 🩷💛😂

Truth!

03/07/2026

The most confusing decade in a woman’s health? Perimenopause — and most women don’t even know they’re in it.

Today I had the privilege of speaking to a room full of incredible women with Dr. Amy Horn about something that far too many of us are navigating alone — perimenopause.

So many women shared the same experience:

“I don’t feel like myself anymore.”
“My labs are normal but I know something is off.”
“Why is my anxiety worse?”
“Why can’t I sleep?”
“Why is my body changing even though I’m doing the same things?”

Here’s the truth that many women are never told:

Perimenopause can begin as early as your mid-30s and can last 10–12 years.

During this time, hormones don’t simply decline —
they fluctuate.
And those fluctuations can create real symptoms:

• anxiety
• sleep disruption
• brain fog
• weight changes
• mood shifts
• low libido
• feeling unlike yourself

Too often women are told:
“Your labs are normal.”
“It’s just stress.”
“You’re getting older.”

But your body isn’t broken.
It’s changing — and when we understand those changes, we can support the body in powerful ways.

At the event we talked about:

🌿 The hormonal shifts of perimenopause
🌿 Why symptoms happen even when labs look “normal”
🌿 The role of sleep, stress, and blood sugar
🌿 Nutrients that support the nervous system (magnesium, omegas, B vitamins, adaptogens)
🌿 How functional medicine approaches this phase differently

The biggest takeaway I want every woman to hear is this:

Perimenopause is not the beginning of decline.
It can be the beginning of transformation.

When women understand what is happening in their bodies, everything changes.

Thank you to every woman who showed up, asked questions, and shared their experiences. The conversations were powerful.

And if you’re a woman in your 40s thinking:
“Wait… this sounds like me.”

You are not crazy
You are not alone
And there are solutions.

More to come on this conversation. 🌿

Perimenopause is one of the most underserved seasons in modern healthcare.

Women are often:
• Told labs are “normal”
• Offered birth control as a default solution
• Given fragmented explanations for whole-body symptoms

But perimenopause is not a single symptom problem.
It is a systems transition.

Hormones influence:
• Nervous system regulation
• Metabolism
• Immune patterns
• Mood and cognition
• Inflammation
• Sleep architecture

When systems shift, the body can feel unpredictable.

On Saturday, March 7th, I’ll be speaking at:

Peri-Menopause: The Conversation Every Woman Needs

This session will focus on:
✔ Understanding what’s truly changing
✔ Recognizing patterns instead of chasing symptoms
✔ The role of thoughtful testing
✔ Lifestyle foundations that stabilize before optimizing

Clarity comes before action.

If you are navigating midlife transition and feel confused, dismissed, or overwhelmed — this conversation is for you. Registration link in the comments!

Ladies... on an antidepressant (with low s*x drive)... I have (Exciting) news for you!!!!!
Did you know that being on an SSRI is proven to decrease your libido by 50%? maybe you already knew that or maybe you chalked it off to hormones and aging.
A study found that many women who take an SSRI, antidepressant can have a decreased libido, and maca can help recover that s*x drive! This study shows a significant improvement in libido with the dosing of 3g/day vs 1.5g/day. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6494062/
As a functional medicine provider, I have seen these results in women patients, and the exciting part is I am now learning the mechanism of WHY I see this welcomed side effect while I use it as an adaptogenic herb to balance ALL hormones. I will link my fav maca in the comments.

We sought to determine whether maca, a Peruvian plant, is effective for selective‐serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI)‐induced s*xual dysfunction. We conducted a double‐blind, randomized, parallel group dose‐finding pilot ...
