To every nurse at Martha's Vineyard Hospital, thank you. Thank you for the early mornings and late nights, for the steady hands and calm voices, for the moments of comfort you offer patients and families when they need it most.

You chose a career of service and our entire island community is better because of it. During Nurses Week and every week, we see you and we are grateful!

This week we are celebrating the nurses who show up every single day with skill, compassion, and heart.

Nursing is one of the most demanding and most meaningful professions in the world, and at MVH, our nurses do it while serving an island community that depends on them year round and especially in the busy summer months when our population swells. They work holidays, overnight shifts, and some of the hardest moments of people's lives without missing a beat. We are endlessly grateful.

Listen in as Latonia James, RN, shares why she loves working at MVH.

Crew Appreciation Week is officially underway at Martha's Vineyard Hospital and this crew deserves every single bit of it!

All week through the 15th, the team at MVH is being celebrated with good food, good fun, and a whole lot of love. And every bite of food being brought in this week is from right here on the island. Because when we celebrate the people who take care of our community, we turn to our community to do it. That is just how the Vineyard works.

To every nurse, doctor, technician, and staff member at MVH: thank you for showing up every single day for this island. We see you and we are so grateful for you. Anchors aweigh! ⚓

Good sleep is not a luxury, it is a health essential.

This Better Sleep Month, our team wants to remind our community that adults need between seven and nine hours of quality sleep each night to support heart health, immune function, mental clarity, and overall wellbeing.

Poor sleep has been linked to increased risk of diabetes, high blood pressure, and depression. Small changes like keeping a consistent bedtime, limiting screen time before bed, and avoiding caffeine in the afternoon can make a meaningful difference.

Ask your MVH provider about our sleep study services and how we can help you wake up feeling your best.

Tick season is here and our very own Dr. Ellen McMahon, Chief of Medicine and Medical Director of Primary Care at Martha's Vineyard Hospital, is on the front lines of understanding it better.

Dr. McMahon recently sat down with Cape and Islands NPR to talk about her work as co-investigator on a new study of Alpha Gal Syndrome, a tick-borne illness that is becoming increasingly relevant right here in our community.

This is the kind of research that matters deeply for island life. Tune in to hear the full conversation:

Summer on the Vineyard is beautiful and we want to keep it that way for you.

May is Melanoma and Skin Cancer Awareness Month, and with our island lifestyle that keeps us outdoors all season long, sun safety is something every one of us needs to take seriously. Skin cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the United States, and melanoma, while less common, is the most dangerous form.

The good news is that when caught early, it is highly treatable. Wear broad spectrum SPF 30 or higher every day, reapply every two hours when outdoors, and do not forget your ears, neck, and hands.

Our team offers dermatology services right here on the island. Book an appointment and make this the summer you take your skin health seriously.
