Relief Mental Health

Relief Mental Health Outpatient provider of TMS, SPRAVATO®, IV ketamine, medication management & therapy. Locations in CO, IL, NJ & WI Charles.

Founded by Susan Mueller, CEO, Relief Mental Health first opened its doors in Oak Brook, Ill., in January 2020—just before the onset of the pandemic. Since then, the organization has expanded to 12 clinics across four states, demonstrating its commitment to delivering innovative and accessible mental health care. At the forefront of Relief Mental Health's offerings is transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), a non-invasive, FDA-approved therapy for depression, OCD and other diagnoses that utilizes magnetic pulses to stimulate specific areas of the brain associated with mood regulation. TMS is covered by insurance, produces no systemic side effects, and is effective in treating patients whose symptoms have not improved with routine treatments like medications and therapy. In addition to TMS, Relief Mental Health provides SPRAVATO® (esketamine) nasal spray, an FDA-approved medication for adults with treatment-resistant depression or depression accompanied by suicidal thoughts or behaviors. A form of ketamine, SPRAVATO® works differently than traditional antidepressants by restoring the balance of certain neurotransmitters in the brain, providing rapid relief from depressive symptoms. When used in combination with TMS therapy, patients may experience both immediate and sustained improvements in their mental health. Relief also offers ketamine infusions at select clinics. IV ketamine is a powerful, rapid-acting treatment for
depression, bipolar depression, PTSD, anxiety and more. It has been shown to provide relief when other
treatments have not worked. Recognizing the importance of a comprehensive approach to mental health, Relief Mental Health integrates psychiatric medication management and therapy into personalized treatment plans. This holistic strategy ensures that each patient receives tailored care, addressing their unique needs and promoting long-term well-being. Unlike many psychiatric providers with long waitlists, Relief Mental Health prioritizes expedited access to care—getting patients seen within a week, or even days, of their initial call. About Relief Mental Health

New research highlights that (CBT) doesn’t just change how we think—it may also change the brain itself. A study found increases in gray matter volume in key emotional regulation areas of the brain following CBT in patients with major depressive disorder.

At Relief Mental Health, all of our therapists are trained in CBT, helping patients build skills to manage thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. For individuals with more severe or treatment-resistant depression, CBT can be especially effective when combined with other evidence-based treatments, such as (TMS) or SPRAVATO® (esketamine). Healing happens on multiple levels—mind, brain, and body.

Major depressive disorder (MDD) is related to volumetric decreases in (cortico-)limbic brain regions. In contrast to pharmacological and electroconvulsive therapy, little is known about the brain structural effects of psychotherapy and potential links to symptom improvements. Mark Bertolini, CEO of Oscar Health and former leader of Aetna, has openly shared that he underwent TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) as part of his journey to overcome nearly two decades of chronic, neuropathic pain.

In this podcast episode, Mark describes experimenting with several advanced approaches—including ketamine therapy, TMS, and virtual reality—which collectively helped him "rewire his brain" and ultimately conquered his pain.

The podcast emphasizes that TMS was one of the groundbreaking treatments he explored, along with ketamine and VR, to achieve relief. This treatment changes—and even saves—countless lives every single day. https://exploreralbert.com/podcast/pain-healing-and-the-power-of-the-mind-with-mark-t-bertolini/
