How do you know when you are being lied to or manipulated?
There is a certain response that indicates when you are being lied to or the other person was not listening. I am a certified group psychotherapist and over the years I have learned clients have certain phrases that indicate when we are being lied to. When you ask the question about them they will respond by saying "I don't know" that is a clear lie. Another example is when the client answered by saying "what do you mean" a form of deflecting an answer. Clients in my practice and the group know they are not allowed to ask any "why" questions" children ask why. This is another indication they are not listing and they are attempting to have you explain the answer. A way they do not have to think or ask an intellectual answer to show any compassion or interest. Clients have been mad with me when I ask again "what do you know"? I have learned that it is useful to train clients how to be effective communicators. I have learned the hard way, therefore, it is important for me to offer alternative to this frustrating interference with communicating with clients.
