Some examples of how breathing affects the body's systems.
Digestive system-the movement of the diaphragm muscles helps gently massage and keep things moving in our digestive system.
Lymphatic system - Deep breathing causes our diaphragm to descend into our abdomen and creates a vacuum-like effect in our chest. That gently pulls lymph fluid up through the biggest lymph vessel known as the thoracic duct.
Nervous system: slow, deep breathing helps lower blood pressure and heart rate and puts us more in a parasympathetic state.
