Yesterday, Senator John Hickenlooper joined a roundtable discussion at Memorial Regional Health with rural hospital, behavioral health, and Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) leaders from across the Western Slope.

The conversation centered on the real-world impacts of recent Medicaid cuts and the implications of HR1 on rural healthcare providers. Senator Hickenlooper listened closely to stories and concerns from our local leaders, gathering insights and solutions to take back to Washington.

Kathryn Schlatter, District Manager of South Routt Medical Health Service District was honored to be part of this important discussion. These conversations matter deeply to the future of rural healthcare, and we are grateful to Senator Hickenlooper for his engagement and advocacy, as well as to Memorial Regional Health for hosting this gathering.

Together, we continue working to ensure that families in Northwest Colorado receive the care they need and deserve—close to home.

Fire Season Is Here — Stay Safe and Informed! 🌫️

As wildfire season ramps up, smoke and air quality can change quickly — especially in our region. South Routt Health Service District encourages everyone to take a few simple steps to protect their health:

✅ Monitor Air Quality
Check daily air quality levels at airnow.gov or your local weather app. Limit outdoor activities when smoke is heavy, especially for children, older adults, and people with heart or lung conditions.

😷 Protect Your Lungs
Keep indoor air clean by closing windows, using an air purifier, and avoiding activities like burning candles or vacuuming. If you must go outside in smoky conditions, consider wearing an N95 mask.

South Routt Medical Center is excited to announce that we have been awarded three major grants to support our expansion planning and construction: $307,000 from the Office of Economic Development & International Trade (OEDIT) as a designated Tier 1 Coal Transition Community for master planning and feasibility studies $1 million from the Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) for architectural and engineering design $2.3 million from the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) for construction.

These grants will allow us to grow our facility to better meet the healthcare needs of our community without using local taxpayer dollars for the expansions construction.
