Tubie Buttons

Tubie Buttons TubieButtons is a PayItForward Project that also offers affordable protection for securing and protecting feeding tubes. Thus begun Tubie Buttons.

After our daughter received her feeding tube, a surgically placed G-tube, we met a wonderful lady who provided information about cloth pads to replace gauze with. She gave us a single ButtonBuddy to try, and we never used tape and gauze again! No more reactions to tape, and we didn't have to take our daughter back to the surgeon anymore for infections or Granulation Tissue. (It was traumatizing to have the granulation tissue burnt off, and thanks to a Button Buddy that is a thing of the past!)

After finding out that this sweet lady passed away and no one was donating these little treasures to the Pediatric Surgery Clinic anymore, we decided to start making them to donate, and challenged others to join us. Most Button Buddies created from this page and those who are participating go to the Vanderbilt Children's Hospital in Nashville, TN. However, we are inviting others to branch out and creating contact points to donate to other Children's Hospitals throughout the US. A Button Buddy is a small thing, however it has the ability to bring a smile to the wearer and those around them, help prevent painful granulation tissue, and encourage acceptance. Our daughter loves to participate in choosing which one she is going to wear for the day, and it lessened her anxiety around change-out routine. If you would like to donate your time or sewing skills, material, other supplies, or become a contact point for your hospital- please let us know. We also would greatly love and appreciate it if you would like to sponsor a Tubie Button Smile Package to be sent to your favorite Tubie or donated to the hospital as well. Thank you so much for your support!

Many have wondered if we're still taking orders, and we are not at this time due to a move. We still have donation Tubies being made for the hospital, but at this time that's all we can commit to. Thank you for supporting us!

Hello everyone! We have scaled back however we are still donating to Vanderbilt and working on spreading the love to a small organization as well. Thank you all so much that have supported us and made it possible to get these donated to children who need them :)

Also, please note that we do our best to contact you back right away, however we all have little ones and sometimes it can take a few minutes. Thanks!

Several who work closely with our project know already, but just thought we'd share why we're not as active on posting right now. Our main organizer and contact point for the hospital has a medically complex daughter with a rare neurological condition. She is showing progression of disease and it has been hard to juggle everything. However, we are still taking donations, still sewing, and still donating :) thanks!

Hello Friends of the Tubie Buttons project. We are sending off our fabrics today to a textile company that specializes in damages from fire/water and hopefully they will be able to salvage as much as possible. We still don't know if our machine is salvageable, however we have a volunteer sewing for us- isn't that wonderful?! Thanks so much for your kind words and support
