What is the "Ohm" in Ohm Massage? The interpretation of the word Ohm in our practice name has held consistent and intentional significance for over 15 years. It is a coincidence that we are now in Oak Harbor, where it has been misinterpreted to mean "Oak Harbor Massage". It has also been misinterpreted as the universal sound or meditation chant "Om", also linked to the crown Chakra. Although these concepts are beautiful and are in alignment with our philosophies, our interpretation of Ohm is literally taken from Ohm's Law.... it is simply a measure of resistance. When we experience resistance, whether in our bodies, or in the circumstances of our lives, we feel pain. "What we resist, persists". When we surrender to and listen to our bodies, and our lives, we open the door to deep healing. We come into greater awareness and begin to work with the body, we begin to flow, like energy essentially, in our lives with ease. At the same time, that measure of resistance in our lives is necessary. We work against gravity, without it we would have no muscle tone at all. We need some resistance to work against, to enable us to grow. It's simply a matter of "How do we work with it."
