We are looking for someone with experience but will train the right person.
We are a growing Ophthalmology practice currently looking for an Ophthalmic Technician to join our team on beautiful Whidbey Island! In this position, you will capture patient history and present illness and administer a broad range of clinical diagnostic testing under the direction of a Board-Certified Ophthalmologist.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to performing preliminary screening examinations for the Ophthalmologist prior to exam:
• Performing preliminary screening examinations for the Ophthalmologist prior to exam
• Obtaining patient medical history, ocular and personal data for patient charts
• Determine patient’s visual acuity
• Tonometry tests to determine intraocular pressure
• Pupil testing for size, equality and reaction prior to dilation
• Triage phone calls from patients and outside practices
• Perform ophthalmic testing for OCT, Fundus camera, IOL Lenstar, visual field …
• Assisting with minor office surgeries and procedures, laser treatments, and operating room surgery as required
• Perform as a float technician to our satellite clinic in Freeland as needed
Job Requirements:
- Certified Ophthalmic Assistant or Certified Ophthalmic Technician strongly desired
- An optical background or MA certification are both desired
- Background with medical terminology desired
- Experience with EMR desired
- Collaborative, collegial, and demonstrates integrity
- High School Diploma or GED
- Strong organizational skills and an ability to multitask
- Proficiency at basic computer and internet skills, as well as experience or an ability to quickly
learn in-office management software
- An ability to communicate and work as an integrated team with other colleagues in the office
- Professional appearance and attitude are required – our patients are our priority
If you are a patient-focused and a detail oriented individual then this may be an excellent opportunity for you. This is a full-time position (40 hours), Monday through Friday. We offer a competitive salary, Medical/Dental/Vision plan, matching IRA, along with paid holidays and time off.
