Jean Maria Breckenridge (Byers) of Mt. Hope, West Virginia, entered into the loving arms of Jesus on Saturday, December 20, 2025, following a long and courageous battle with her health. Through God’s mercy, she was healed—free from pain, free from sorrow, and finally at peace.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Nana and Maurice Breckenridge; her great-grandson, Stetson Scarbrough; her sister, Linda Thorne; and her brothers, Frank and Wayne Breckenridge.

She leaves behind a loving family who meant everything to her: her children, Herbert Byers III, Maurice Byers, Tina (Brandon) Boles, and Bobby (Jamie) Byers; along with her cherished “children at heart,” Renea (Mark) Pittman, Rick Gilkerson, and Tommy Gilkerson. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

Jean had a deep love for flowers and could be found planting them in every empty space she could find. She took great pride in her yard and never failed to give careful instructions to her friend who cut her grass—making sure he knew exactly where not to mow near her flowers, directions he patiently followed every time.

Above all else, Jean loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren fiercely. She prayed faithfully and fervently for each one and longed to spend more time with them. Though her absence leaves a deep ache, her family finds comfort in knowing she is healed, whole, and home at last.

She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”

Revelation 21:4

D**ky Lee Davis, 74, of Oak Hill, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 7, 2025 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, West Virginia. Born on May 20, 1951, in Scarbro, West Virginia, D**ky was the son of the late Alexander Lawrence (D**k) Davis and Patricia Jane Davis.

D**ky was a proud and successful business owner and mechanic at Davis Tire and Muffler in Oak Hill. He was also a Master Mason, 32nd degree, a member of the Scottish Rite, and of Masonic Lodge 120 in Oak Hill.

D**ky’s greatest passion was undoubtedly his family. He was the proud and loving father of his three girls, and he cherished the time spent with his grandson, Cole, and granddaughter, Gracemarie. He shared an incredibly special bond, both in business and in life, with his nephew, Johnny Dale, who D**ky loved like a son. D**ky was known for his humor, always ready with a joke or a story, and he found simple joy in the quiet pursuit of fishing. D**ky had a heart of gold and was well-known throughout the community for his generosity and warmth. His beloved "heart dog," Alex, preceded him in death, but the family takes comfort in knowing their unbreakable bond and deep love for her will continue in heaven.

Beyond his family, D**ky poured his heart and soul into his business, Davis Automotive. He was a dedicated and talented mechanic who truly loved his work, building a successful and respected enterprise. He was not only a skilled business owner but also a great boss, treating his employees with respect and care.

In addition to his parents, D**ky was preceded in death by his brothers, Rocky Dale Davis and Jeff Edward Davis; and great-nephews, Justin Alexander Davis and Mark Allen Davis.

Left to cherish on his memory are his daughters, Kimberly Jean Davis (Samantha), Michelle Lynn Riser (Michael), and Autumn Marie Davis-Hanks (Leonard); grandchildren, Cole Garrett Allen and Gracemarie Davis Hanks; sisters, Donna Davis Copley (Jim), Connie Davis Meadows (Jerry); and a number of nieces and nephews.

D**ky also leaves behind a cherished network of lifelong friends. A special mention goes to his lifelong best friend and "partner in crime," Roger McVey. Their bond was unbreakable and provided decades of shared laughter and adventure. D**ky also maintained a loving and supportive friendship with his previous wife, Cathy Davis, until the very end. The family extends sincere gratitude to Marty and Kim Massey for their years of dedicated service to Davis Automotive and their enduring friendship with D**ky.
