The Oak Park community hosts local entertainer Michael Riddle several times throughout the year. From country to rock ‘n roll, our residents love the variety of familiar music he plays.

Here’s a video from one of his recent performances, singing “Here Comes the Sun” by the Beatles. You can see and hear why he’s a favorite among residents at Oak Park!

Some of our Oak Park residents recently went on a lunch outing to Patriot’s Tavern in Stillwater. The restaurant features American food with New England history and influences. We had 20 residents come along for this dining adventure. The food was delicious, and we savored every morsel!

Musician Michael Riddle stopped by our Oak Park community last week to entertain residents. Riddle is a local guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter, and residents love hearing him perform. Some even got up to dance!

Residents in our Southview communities look forward to spring for warmer temps and time outside in the fresh air. It’s also when we start planning ideas for our community gardens, which is appropriate as April is National Garden Month.

Soon, we’ll be planting flowers, herbs, and vegetables in our raised garden beds and reaping the benefits of our harvest. Gardening not only improves strength and flexibility, but it’s also a natural stress reliever and mood booster, so residents really love it!

We can’t wait to get planting!

We all scream for ICE CREAM! 🍦😋

With spring finally in the air, we thought the slightly warmer temperatures called for a delicious frozen treat! Our Oak Park community recently hosted an ice cream social event, and so many residents showed up to share in the fun. Who doesn’t love ice cream?

Every morning, the Oak Park community hosts an exercise class. Residents do a variety of light workouts, and we’re all each other’s biggest supporters. Everyone motivates one another to keep going, as you can see and hear in this video.

We’re so proud of our residents for staying active. Keep up the hard work, everyone!

Local musician, singer, and entertainer Kent Appledoorn recently paid a visit to Memory Care residents in our Oak Park community. He played upbeat, classic rock ‘n roll music and made everyone smile with a little help from “Elvis.”

Memory Care residents at Oak Park regularly participate in various activities for engagement and enrichment. We were so busy having fun but managed to capture photos from a couple of February activities.

Residents used paints, wooden hearts, and all kinds of embellishments to create their own Valentine’s Day decorations and cards. And we worked on fine motor skills and social connections by piecing together colorful puzzles.

All throughout April we celebrate National Move More Month, a time to get up and move for health and happiness.

Physical movement for seniors is important for strengthening bones and muscles, improving balance, and reducing the risk of chronic illnesses. While regular exercise can be challenging for those with physical limitations, our Oak Park community understands that. And we make a point of offering a range of activities and classes designed for seniors of all abilities for all-around safety and wellness.

The Oak Park community is gearing up to host its upcoming Golden Prom. And residents helped prepare for the big event by putting together centerpieces for all the tables. The decorations turned out great, and we had so much fun working on them!

Spring is finally in the air. And residents in our Southview Senior Communities will soon be tending to the garden beds we cultivate each year, growing a variety of flowers, vegetables, and herbs. To celebrate National Garden Month, we want to highlight some of the health benefits of gardening, especially for seniors.
