Behavioral Learning, PLLC

Behavioral Learning, PLLC Science + Heart. We encourage and support diversity, equity and inclusion within our workplace and the treatment that we provide.

At Behavioral Learning, we are committed to creating a safe and collaborative environment to empower growth and foster individualized behavior change. Our goal is to develop professionally caring relationships with each of our learners where cultural values, religious affiliation, and identity as self-defined are respected and integrated into treatment, as appropriate. Regardless of ability level, all are afforded the freedoms of everyday life and human rights are valued. Our therapeutic framework is based in third-wave behavior analytic support, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). As counselors, social workers, and behavior analysts, we utilize data-based decision making to determine and enhance individualized change. MISSION STATEMENT: We are passionate about learning across the lifespan. Our primary mission is to transform adult services by integrating mental and behavioral health services into high quality, compassionate neuroaffirming care. VISION STATEMENT: To create a world where the stigmas associated with receiving mental and behavioral health services are no more.

Schedule Self-Care

Setting aside time to step away and unwind is just as essential as pausing in the moment. Planning for breaks throughout the week can help you manage sensory overload and avoid burnout. Comment with what scheduled self-care you have planned for the rest of this week! Remember, your well-being matters! đź•’

🌿 The Power of Pausing 🌿

We often rush into a new week, especially those who are embarking on a new school year. In the midst of the hustle and bustle, we forget that our mind needs rest just as much as our body does.

Ever found yourself staring at your screen, reading the same sentence three times and still… nothing? 🫠
That’s your mind’s way of saying, “Hey, I need a break.”

A few minutes to step away, breathe, and reset can turn a foggy brain into a clear one.

đź’¬ Tag a friend who needs a reminder to pause and breathe.

Image Description: A young woman sits calmly with her eyes closed, her posture relaxed as if she’s meditating. She takes slow, deep breaths, letting her thoughts settle. The background feels light and peaceful. At the bottom, a gentle reminder reads: “Pausing is not stopping. It’s preparing.”

This month, we’re turning our attention to one of our favorite topics: self-care!

Managing mental health as a neurodivergent person can be overwhelming at times, but small changes can make a big difference! Having a toolbox of different coping skills can ensure that you have options for navigating whatever life throws your way.

We’re celebrating 35 years of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), signed into law on July 26, 1990.

The ADA is a groundbreaking civil rights law that protects people with disabilities from discrimination. It opened up access to jobs, education, transportation, and public places, helping build a more inclusive society. Although there is still more work to be done, at Behavioral Learning, we strive to create a place that supports access, inclusion, and opportunity. From the way we design our services to how we listen and advocate for those we serve, we do our part to make the world a little more accessible from our corner of the world.

When building your support system, look for allies who use inclusive language, utilize a strengths-based approach, and promote autonomy and choice. Person-centered care should be exactly that: care that prioritizes what matters most to YOU.

Supporting neurodivergent students in the classroom starts with understanding their unique needs and creating an inclusive environment. Provide and encourage different ways to access information, set clear instructions (we love “First, Then” boards!), and offer sensory breaks. Together, we can foster a space where every student thrives!

Here at Behavioral Learning, our practices use the framework Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Our work emphasizes acceptance of one's unique neurological experiences and commitment to actions that support personal values and well-being. ACT encourages self-compassion, flexibility, and resilience: principles that empower neurodivergent individuals to thrive while honoring their authentic selves.

This month, we’re focusing on building the foundations of neuroaffirming communities!

🧠 A neuroaffirming ally seeks and respects neurodiverse perspectives and supports them in advocating for inclusive spaces and opportunities. It's about embracing differences, challenging stereotypes, and creating spaces where everyone feels understood and valued.

This definition was created in collaboration with our neurodiverse community of learners, whose insights help us build spaces where every mind matters.
