Cutting someone off doesn't feel the way the internet makes it sound.

Online, it's framed as a clean ending. A bold move you walk away from. In real life, it's a long, quiet grief that arrives in waves. The phantom thought to call them. The reflex to text when something good happens. The split second your eyes scan a crowd before you remember. If you've cut someone off and you're still grieving, your grief is real and your decision is also right. Both can be true at the same time. 🫂

The grief is for the version of them you were still hoping might show up someday. The one you kept making space for. That version was never coming. That's the actual loss. You're allowed to mourn a relationship that was hurting you. Holding the line and feeling the loss can both be honest at the same time.

Tonight, if there's an ache you've been pushing down, let it have ten minutes. Whatever lets the feeling exist for a while without judgment. The grief gets smaller when you stop fighting it. ❤️‍🩹

You don’t have to be loud to change someone’s day.

Sometimes the most healing thing you can offer is your presence. The way you listen without rushing. The way you remember small details. The way you make people feel like they don’t have to perform, explain, or shrink themselves to be accepted.

In a world where so many people feel unseen, a safe presence is rare.

So please don’t underestimate yourself.

Your kindness may be the reason someone feels brave enough to keep going.
Your words may stay with someone long after you forget saying them. Your calm energy may remind someone that not every connection has to feel heavy.

You don’t need to fix everyone.
You don’t need to have the perfect advice.
Sometimes being a soft place to land is enough.

A small exercise for today:
The next time someone talks to you, pause for a few extra seconds before responding. Listen fully instead of preparing what to say next. Notice how different people feel when they are truly heard.

And maybe remind yourself of this too:
your presence has probably comforted people in ways you’ll never fully know.

Save this for the days you forget how much your energy matters.💖

The fact that you've been holding everything together by yourself doesn't mean you were supposed to.

"Strong" gets misused as a personality type. It's actually a posture, and postures get tired. Even the most independent people are still made for connection. Your mind is built for it.
When someone shows up for you in a way that matches you, when they meet you where you actually are, your whole body settles in a way no amount of self-discipline can replicate.

📌 You're allowed to need someone. Even now. Especially now.

Save this. Send it to the friend who's been carrying too much in silence. ❤️‍🩹 🫂
