Our end of the month movie showing has become a hit among staff and residents! ❤️ At the end of August, we had a 86th anniversary watch party for The Wizard of Oz. Chef Ammon made some delicious party snacks inspired by the Yellow Brick Road, Dorothy, and the Wicked Witch of the West! We also had a run in with some of the characters! This month we will host a watch party for the 30th Anniversary of Apollo 13 on September 30th! 🍿🎥

National Assisted Living Week fun continues! ❤️🎉 On Tuesday, we started bright and early with an Omelet and Pastry Bar for 1st and 3rd shift curtesy of Chef Ammon and his team. We continued the day with tie dyeing for Alzheimer's Awareness and a rubber duck scavenger hunt. Congratulations to one of our housekeepers, Oksana, for winning the grand prize! 🦆

The residents and staff have been extremely busy at National Assisted Living Week! 🎉 We kicked off the week on Monday with a Chili Cook Off and celebrated the start of the Chicago Bears season! Congratulations to Nurse, Hattie, for winning 1st place for the best chili, our Enrichment Leader, Nancy, for winning 2nd, and Carrie, our Director of Activities and Memory Care, for winning 3rd place! 🍽️❤️

Today, on the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, we honor the bravery and sacrifice of the Greatest Generation. More than 16 million Americans answered the call to serve—including Dr. Randolph Scheen, now 100 years old, a proud U.S. Navy Seabee and resident of Belmont Village Senior Living St. Matthews.

As a young man, Dr. Scheen landed on the beaches of Iwo Jima in 1945, showing courage during one of the war’s most pivotal and harrowing battles. His service, and that of all who served, continues to inspire us today. 🙏❤️

As students head back to school, so do our residents, thanks to our partnerships with leading nationwide universities including UC Berkeley, UCLA and Rice University - Glasscock School of Continuing Studies. Through interactive lesson plans, group activities and stimulating discussion prompts, our residents are embracing the same excitement and curiosity that younger generations experience during back-to-school season. We know that intellectual engagement is just as vital to well-being as staying active and socially connected. That’s why, together with our university partners, we’re creating meaningful opportunities for lifelong learning, intergenerational connections, and community engagement. 💡

Our Belmont Blooms campaign really focuses on deepened connections and raised awareness of older adults’ roles in giving back and shaping their local communities. Happy National Couples Day! 💕✨ Today, we’re celebrating Jan & Otto, one of our beautiful couples who found love at our Belmont Village Senior Living Lakeway community three years ago where their love story began in Bible Study. From reading scripture together to staying fit, they share a deep bond, and one of their favorite traditions is color coordinating their outfits every day! Jan and Otto's love story reminds us that finding love and creating special moments are timeless. 🥂💖

Today, we honor Vincent L., one of our incredible Belmont Village Senior Living Fort Lauderdale residents, whose dedication shaped generations of future leaders. From 1969 to 1988, he served as Chairman of the U.S. Naval Academy Committee for Accreditation of Engineering Programs. His leadership established and maintained nationally accredited programs that continue to uphold excellence at the Academy.

Our Belmont Village Senior Living Aventura community is coming to life, and we're thrilled to see all the progress that's being made! Trees have been flown in and placed on the pool deck, sidewalks are being poured, topping slabs are nearly complete, and the AC systems are being installed. Are you "on your own side"? Attendees of the Leveraging Self-Care session last week learned how to find ways to decrease stress and practice self-care that is meaningful to them. Belmont Village was proud to provide not just nourishment with a delicious dinner, but an opportunity for area caregivers to find some creative ways to better care for themselves and get continuing education credit! We're just months in to constructing Belmont Village Rancho Santa Fe and we are thrilled to have already earned distinguished recognition for its architectural design within the industry. At the Gold Nugget Awards, we received the award of merit in the “Best 55+ Housing Community - On-The Boards” award, and at the SAGE Awards, we were honored with the “Best 55+ Assisted Living - On-The-Boards" recognition. 🏆 We are incredibly grateful for these accolades, which reflect our ongoing commitment to delivering excellence in senior living.
