A day in the life of Sacred Rose Midwifery: Monday is our usual home visit day so we had 4 visits on the schedule at 1p (39 wks), 2:30p (37 wks), 4p (40.6 wks), & 5:30p (22 wks). On Sun morning the 39 wks mom water broke with no contractions just feeling crampy so I went and checked on her and then went home to wait until active labor kicked in. I told her if labor didn't kick in that I would be back the next day for her 1p home visit. So now it's Mon morning and I wake up to a text at 6:39a from the 37 wks mom that her water broke and no contractions just yet. But by 7:20a she was having mild contractions. So now I figure let me continue getting my rest because I had no idea how this day would go. I finally get up at 11a to pack my bags for the day and the 37 wks mom reported contractions every 8-10 min so I said okay I'll come check on you at your scheduled 2:30p visit. I'm packed and ready for the day and I arrive to the 1p home visit but I don't go in because the dad of the 37 wks mom called for us to come to the birth. I tell the 1p dad through the door that I have to go to another birth but to go on a walk with mom and I'll be back after the birth. I arrive to the 37 wks birth at 1:15p and baby was born at 1:38p. So now we're back on schedule to see our 4p and 5:30p moms. We're on our way to the 4p home visit and she calls saying she forgot about us and isn't home so we pivot and go the 1p home visit that we missed. While at the home visit the 39 wk mom reported that contractions started around 2p but they are still mild and manageable. So we leave to make it to the 5:30p home visit and by 6:18p the 39 wks mom's sister called for us to come back because contractions were now 3 min apart. We wrap up with the 22 wk mom and head to our 2nd birth of the day. We arrive around 6:45p and baby was born at 7:26p. And I was home by 10:30p. Now that's a days work: 2 births and 2 home visits in 10 hrs.
Homebirth #504 was a 37 wk client, 3rd baby, 1st homebirth for mom and we had the most amazing quiet birth.
Homebirth #505 was a 39 wk repeat client, 2nd baby, planned vbac (hbac). Well I must say I'm super proud of her because she rocked her vbac. The pics are amazing and I can't wait to share.
