Workplace wellness is more than a perk. It shapes retention, morale, and the long-term health of your team.

When mental health challenges go unaddressed at work, the impact reaches far beyond the individual. Burnout, turnover, and disengagement can quietly affect an entire organization.

In our recent blog, we explore how workplace mental health programs can help organizations build stronger cultures, support employees more effectively, and create environments where people feel safe asking for help.

Change starts with conversations like these.

Earlier this month, a few members of the NAMI Metro Suburban team traveled to Springfield for Behavioral Health Advocacy Day to join advocates from across the state in speaking up for stronger mental health systems in Illinois.

While there, Samantha Malone, NAMI Education Coordinator, and Niya Sutherland, Community & Living Room Liaison, met with Assistant Majority Leader Camille Y. Lilly for a thoughtful conversation about what equitable, community-based mental health support needs to look like, and why culturally responsive care matters in every community.

They also shared how NAMI Metro Suburban continues to expand support for individuals and families through free programs, stronger community partnerships, and advocacy rooted in lived experience.

We’re proud to be part of these conversations and grateful to Representative Lilly for taking the time to meet with our team.

Exciting work happening behind the scenes!

Our Education Coordinator, Angelica Mojica, recently spent the week in Washington, D.C. with NAMI National recording In Our Own Voice videos in Spanish—helping expand access to powerful, personal mental health stories for Spanish-speaking communities.

Efforts like this are an important step toward making education, understanding, and support more inclusive and accessible for all.

We’re proud to see this work come to life and can’t wait to share more soon.
