Dr. David R. Juel, DDS

Dr. David R. Juel, DDS Practicing dentistry with a conservative, honest, and personable approach. A 3rd generation family dental practice, Dr. Martin O. Juel, Dr. Robert P.

Juel, and Dr. David R. Juel all graduated from Northwestern University in Chicago (1915, 1953, 1998). The first location was in the old Pioneer Bank building on North and Pulaski Avenues. The second office was at North Avenue and Elmwood in Oak Park. Our current office is at 6535 W. North Avenue in Oak Park and is a privately owned, 3 operatory building with a quiet setting overlooking a landscaped backyard. We have always believed in a one dentist practice, currently employing 5 in the dental team, 2 of which have been with us over 30 years. We pride ourselves in personal, honest treatment of our patients, excellent dental care with a conservative approach in a calm, clean atmosphere. In a difficult economic time, our practice has grown by treating people fairly and with compassion. We offer all aspects of general dentistry including pediatric, cosmetic, implant, and geriatric care. We rely on an excellent team of specialists in the area for orthodontics, oral surgery, periodontics, and endodontics. All are welcome to sit for a free consultation.

Growing up fast. We try to make it fun at the dentist, positive, and encouraging. I definitely care. The times that it's not, I can assure you I am gentle and take my time. I feel like the 15% that hate the dentist... I can rehabilitate them within 3-4 visits. (She's had one cavity and I fixed it!)

My grandfather's old office space on the 3rd floor, in the 1920's... we've technically been on North Ave. for over 100 years. Some of my older patients still remember it.

My teeth are ok. I grind them, or I have in the past. I never had braces, and could have used a palatal expander. Times have changed since the 70's, and even so much in my 22 years as a dentist. Straight teeth are more common, people get implants, less dentures are being made. I have 4 crowns and one implant. I've felt cracked tooth pain and extraction. My daughter has already had the first phase of braces. People make the comment that we're all wearing masks now anyway. But our smile is still special and important. Of course I like perfect teeth. It's fun to me. I like restoring teeth, making them pretty and healthy, rebuilding function with bridges and implants. I like when patients are into their teeth and ask questions. I was closed for 3 months during the pandemic, but what I realized was people do need me. They had pain and problems. You can't really neglect your teeth. Something is bound to happen. There's emergencies and panic. After awhile I became busy again. It was hard to get everyone in, especially for cleaning and exams. We space people out, time is more precious, people value that appointment, and everyone is pretty much on time. My staff is so faithful and hard working... Cindy, Carol, and Linda. Things will get better and the virus more under control. I just wanted to say hello to people and let them know I'm working full steam ahead in a clean, safe setting. I'll always offer you personal attention and service.

It's the first rose of the season from my office backyard. A simple thing of beauty and hope that there is a bright future. We are open and seeing patients. There are sterile changes for the better, and a slower more spaced out schedule. We will never operate at the same pace as before, and that is ok with me. Saturdays fill up quickly, call ahead for appointments, come on time, wear a mask, you know the drill. 🙂 Our patients have been very nice and understanding, it's good to hear and see some of you again. My staff is the best and so supportive. We are a true team and like family. I am available for all emergencies. Keep up your home care and don't neglect your teeth.

Just another seasonal post.... reflecting on some history that I occasionally come across. Sometimes it's a letter that's been stored in a chart for 20 years, or an actual chart entry from my father dated '58, and then passing by the old Pioneer Bank building on North & Pulaski where my grandfather started in 1915. It's a pleasure to maintain relationships with patients. I care about you and your teeth and strive to do just that over the years. Always let me know privately what your concerns are, what your requests are, and what worries you about the dentist. Thanks for another year.. (it's my 21st - and you can ask some of the other staff how long they have been here!)

This was a very exciting, lengthly well planned case. (So many people question the ads we hear: total implants in a day!) It doesn't really work that way. We spent 6-9 months, and what a transformation. I really enjoyed designing the smile and bite, taking my time with multiple try-in appointments. She couldn't be happier, it was truly life changing for this patient.
