CURRENT & FORMER K-25, Y-12 & ORNL - Q&A WORKSHOP.

In 2000, Congress passed an act providing medical benefits and financial payouts to former DOE employees and contractors. There are many myths surrounding the program that we
would love to debunk!

1. The program is only available to those who have cancer.
False- Many former workers are covered for common illnesses like high blood
pressure, diabetes, kidney disease, and lung disease to name a few.
2. Once my claim has been denied I can never file again.
a. False - There are no limits to the number of times a claim can be filed.
3. It's only a medical benefit.
False - Financial benefits based on physical impairments can range up to
$250,000 - $400,000 depending on your illness.
