MUSCLE PAIN & TRIGGER POINTS
Why your body hurts — and how we can help
Our muscles need rest after every contraction. But long hours at the computer, stress, bad posture, and tension force certain muscles to stay tight too long. When a muscle can’t relax or get proper nutrients, it begins to break down its own tissues — this is how trigger points form.
What are trigger points?
They are tiny knots in the muscle that “shoot” pain into other areas of the body.
Examples:
Shoulder trigger point → headache
Back trigger point → shoulder or arm pain
Glute trigger point → lower-back or leg pain
Pain often appears far from the real cause, which is why many people never find the true source without a specialist.
What activates trigger points?
Overload
Stress
Cold air / AC
Prolonged sitting
Bad posture
Sudden awkward movement
At first, a trigger point “sleeps,” but when activated, it can cause sharp, severe pain.
Common myths:
❌ “Muscle pain is not serious.”
Trigger point pain can be extremely strong and never disappears on its own.
❌ “It will go away if I ignore it.”
It won’t. It only goes dormant and returns again.
How we treat it
This is not regular Swedish massage.
Trigger point therapy includes:
✔️ precise deep pressure
✔️ slow gliding techniques
✔️ stretching of the affected muscle
✔️ restoring proper blood flow
When the pain is truly from a trigger point, most clients feel relief right after the session.
Detecting and treating trigger points requires advanced knowledge and experience —
and this is exactly what we specialize in: Lora, Lena, Irene, and Glenn at Purple Stones Massage Spa.
