***UPDATE*** ❤️❤️🙏🙏

After missing for 22 hours, search and rescue team members found Christian Ramirez nestled under a tree near Huntington Lake.

He was hungry and exhausted, but otherwise in good health. We got him a sandwich and then carried him out to be reunited with Mom and Dad. 🙏🏻🙏🏽🙏🏿

Search for Missing 4 Year Old Boy Underway at Huntington Lake

Shortly before 11 am on Thursday, a family at the Rancheria Campground reported their 4 year old boy was missing. They had been searching for him about an hour before they called our department. Christian Ramirez was last seen wearing a gray Volcom brand t-shirt, blue shorts and gray Nike shoes.

We currently have our Search and Rescue team, Air Support Unit, Forest Service rangers and California Fish & Wildlife officers looking for him in the northeastern portion of Huntington Lake.

If you have any information on Christian's whereabouts, please dial 911 or the Sheriff's Office non-emergency line of (559) 600-3111.

Civilian: "Oh you're a firefighter, paramedic, or EMT? That's cool. I wanted to do that when I was a kid. What do you make?"
First Responder: "WHAT DO I MAKE? I make holding your hand seem like the biggest thing in the world when I'm cutting you out of a car. I can make 5 minutes seem like a lifetime when I go into a burning house to save your family. I make those annoying sirens seem like angels when you need them. I can make your children breathe when they've stopped. I make the swift decisions to help you survive a heart attack. I make myself get out of bed at 3am to risk my life saving people I've never met. Today I might make the ultimate sacrifice to save your life. I make a difference. What do you make?"

SEXUALLY VIOLENT PREDATOR- PRISONER RELEASE

The Madera County Sheriff’s Office has been made aware that on May 16, 2024, Judge Stephanie Jamieson of the Merced Superior Court ruled Ciro Camacho should no longer be classified as a Sexually Violent Predator and ordered him released from the California State Hospital, despite opposing evidence presented by the Merced County District Attorney’s Office.

Camacho was convicted of multiple counts of lewd and lascivious conduct with a child under 14 in 1993. Upon release, Camacho has indicated that he will be residing in Madera County.

Our Office has no influence over the outcome of the hearing nor the decision made. We were not involved in the proceedings and have no authority to challenge or alter the judgement rendered in this case. In the interest of public safety, we feel compelled to share this information with our community.

Madera County Sheriff Tyson Pogue remarks, “We are deeply disappointed in Judge Jamieson’s decision to release Ciro Camacho, particularly in light of the strong opposition by the Merced District Attorney’s Office. Should Camacho relocate to Madera County, we are fully committed to enforcing all state registration requirements and keeping the public informed. Our top priority remains the safety and security of our community members, and we appreciate the Merced District Attorney’s Office advocating for the continued detention of this individual.”

Camacho remains in custody at this time. We will provide an update upon his release, and encourage residents to visit the Megan’s Law website to keep themselves informed. A direct link to the Megan’s Law site is available in the Madera County Sheriff’s Mobile App: MaderaSheriffApp.com.
