It is with a heavy and humbled heart that we share the passing of Dr. Howard Jones, the esteemed Principal of Whispering Pines Center. This loss has come with great weight, leaving a silence that words alone cannot truly fill.
For 24 years, Dr. Jones faithfully served Broward County Public Schools with unwavering commitment, integrity, and genuine care for others. His leadership was intentional and impactful, marked by excellence and purpose. He served as Principal of Wingate Oaks Center from 2021 to 2025, and most recently as Principal of Whispering Pines Center from 2025 until his passing. In every role, he led with compassion, uplifted those around him, and poured into students, staff, and families in a way that leaves a lasting imprint.
Dr. Jones was more than an educator and administrator. He was a steady pillar, a trusted mentor, and a guiding light within the community. His presence brought strength, his voice brought direction, and his leadership inspired growth, unity, and hope. The legacy he leaves behind will continue to live on in the lives he touched and in the spaces he so faithfully served.
This is a tremendous loss for Broward County Public Schools and all who had the privilege of knowing him. As we grieve together, we ask that you keep his wife, his entire family, loved ones, colleagues, his brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, and the entire school community in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
