Healing is our responsibility.

This past Monday I woke up in potentially the worst pain in my life. Any movement, even the simple act of breathing, sent sharp and shooting pain into my spine. Getting out of bed seemed like an impossible task and yet I had people to serve in less than 3 hours …

My clinical presentation, mechanism of injury and orthopedic tests all indicated a significant injury to the intervertebral dics of my lower thoracic spine (T10-T11). Most people would have rushed to the ER if they were in my position only to get imaging, pain medicine, talks of surgery and a referral for physical therapy which will take days to weeks to start (I’ve managed a PT clinic so I’m speaking from experience).

Yet that same day I was able show up to practice to serve my people and today I was able to do an intense yoga session PAIN FREE without drugs, imaging, or any form of medical treatment. How? Specific CHIROPRACTIC care 3 times this week (couldn’t breath without pain until an adjustment on Tuesday) and dialed in stability breathing/exercises in the morning before work, the evening after work and every moment I had in between. Can’t forget proper nutrition, rest, and mindset. That last one is important. Having mindset of knowing our body has an incredible capacity to heal, especially when given the right environment. Injuries are simply a lesson that can make us or break us. The choice is ours.

My message, as always, our health is our responsibility and we all need a team to help us be on the top of our health game. Best believe a chiropractor needs to be in that starting 🖐🏻

Always Love,

We must feel it to heal it.

Have you ever healed through an injury? The rehab process includes pain. Why? Because we are breaking up scar tissue created after a trauma we couldn’t handle. These scares are intentionally designed to protect us from further injury but they are not meant to last because they limit us from our natural expression. In order to restore back to normalcy, back to PERFECTION, we must tear those scars and rebuilt healthy tissue. Pain is apart of the process and so is consistent effort, patience, and grace.

This HEALING process is the same when it comes to mental/emotional injuries. Our body creates mental/emotional scars after an experience we couldn’t fully process. Instead of physical movement to tear and heal these scars, the mental/emotional movement is in the form of QUESTIONS.

Some questions:
1. Who am I?
2. What is my purpose?
3. Why did a react this way?
4. Why do I feel this way?

To build new healthy mental/emotional tissue:

1. What is the lesson?
2. How does the real me respond when this similar experience shows up again?
3. What actions must I take so I do respond as the real me next time?
4. Who can support me in restoring myself back to this normal (perfect) version of myself
5. How can I love myself deeper?

The quality of our questions determines the quality of our answers aka the quality of our LIFE.

If you decide to heal, give yourself permission to FEEL it FULLY. It won’t be easy, it will be painful at times, and you will come out of it a better/truer version of yourself. Throughout it all, remember you are not alone and you are exactly where you are meant to be exactly when you are meant to experience this.

Always love,

Dr. BCB
