COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Yamamoto New Scalp Acupuncture (YNSA) is named after the Japanese physician, Dr. Toshikatsu Yamamoto, who developed this acupuncture system in 1973. YNSA is used to treat neurological conditions, and is both effective and immediate in stroke patients with pain and/or restricted mobility. As a result, the use of YNSA has increased and has become the most frequently used form of acupuncture. YNSA comprises basic acupuncture points (somatopes) mainly on the scalp, as well as on other body regions. In addition to providing symptomatic relief, YNSA is sometimes curative. The workshop’s duration is 18 hours which is spread over two days, 9 hours/day. The workshop is an active learning workshop during which the participants will learn the YNSA macros stem acupuncture points, which were described by Yamamoto and which are currently used to effectively treat a wide range of neurological and orthopedic conditions. In the workshop, participants will learn and practice the location and indications of the four different needling groups of YNSA.

Course Objective:

At the end of the workshop, each participant will have an understanding of YNSA and acquire the basic skills to apply YNSA to a patient with acute or chronic pain or a neurological disease. This newly acquired skill should become part of the practitioner’s therapeutic tool box and stimulate the participant to expand his/her knowledge on the application of YNSA with other therapeutic modalities in other clinical settings.

Battlefield Acupuncture is an Auricular Therapy (Ear acupuncture) protocol that was invented by Dr. Richard Niemtzow MD in 2001. He came up with the name Battlefield Acupuncture for the simple reason that it could be used on the battlefield when it was not advisable or desirable to use Western pain medications such as narcotics. The protocol uses up to 5 specific points on each ear and employs a specific type of auriculotherapy needle. It is used to treat all types of pain. It was so effective in the military that it was taught to civilians to use for non-military patients. Its popularity has taken off exponentially since its inception.

I'm chatting with DAOM students right now about correlations between Saam Acupuncture and Classical Formulas (Jing Fang).

It's great preparation, as I'll be presenting on this topic next month (Saturday, July 27th) in Qiological's course series on Saam Acupuncture.

Learning the basics of promoting or controlling the flow of qi through the Five Phases is an elemental part of every acupuncturist's training. We learn how the antique points can be used to nudge a response or invite a different kind of resonance into a patient's life. The Korean Saam acupuncture...

Shout out to Dr. Henry McCann.

I opened an email with the title: "unsolicited feedback on Henry's class"

When I read a first line like this, there's a brief moment where I brace myself for what may come next. You can't please everyone all the time, and even with the amazing teachers who choose to be a part of the ACCHS DAOM program, I try to always be prepared to understand and manage constructive criticism.

But in this case, the bracing was entirely unnecessary.

"Just want to offer some unsolicited feedback on Henry's class. It f**king ruled. One of the very best CM classes I've taken in almost ten years of schooling. He's an excellent teacher who conveys information simply, clearly, and in a very easy-to-understand way. I'd love to take more classes with him at ACCHS in the future."

This is the type of feedback that reminds me what it was like to learn from these teachers for the first time, and it makes my day.

Thanks Henry! And see you soon :-)
