Did you know?
According to publicly available 2024 data from the California Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI), Kaiser Permanente Northern California hospitals account for:
• 26% of licensed pediatric inpatient beds (NICU, PICU, and acute care combined)
• 14% of pediatric discharges among regional children’s hospitals
Many of our pediatric units are embedded within larger medical centers and may appear smaller individually. Viewed collectively across the region, however, the impact is significant.
With approximately 1 in 3 children in Northern California covered by Kaiser Permanente, our responsibility is substantial.
Training in this system means learning to deliver high-volume, high-impact care across a uniquely integrated regional network — close to home, community-based, and team-driven.
If you’re looking for fellowship training grounded in systems thinking, regional coordination, and real-world inpatient volume, we’d love to connect.
