Fam, I have Covid. I haven’t been this sick since 2020 before there was any testing for it. The old me would not have asked for help but the new me is like…See, my daughter is taking care of her son who had gall bladder removal surgery and umbilical hernia repair surgery yesterday due to his sickle cell disease. They are still in the hospital. Send prayers his way and he is doing well.
I however need a list of things and pronto so that I can stay away from his immunocompromised body. I will cash app or Venmo you what you need. I live in Vallejo. Any help will do. DM me

There is a lot of conversation about perinatal health disparities and equity, yet there is something we haven’t tried: leveraging the power and potential of midwives to make a difference.

Policies are needed to advance midwifery care and ensure:
✅ Equitable Medicaid reimbursement for all credentialed midwives (CPM, CNM) in all settings -hospital, birth center and home.
✅ Birth center licensing and reimbursement that aligns with the requirements of the Affordable Care Act
✅ Doula reimbursement policies must be updated to include birth centers and home birth.

Warning! Long rant. I seriously don’t understand why anyone who has the option of not having a baby in a hospital would opt to do so. I’m not talking about those that are high risk or those that have true affordability issues. (Cause some of you can afford that which you value highly). Pain management not withstanding. But these hospitals are battling structural racism with more structural racism. How is a client who is experiencing a healthy pregnancy and that has no risk factors made to come in for evaluation triple the amount of a healthy white person, simply because she’s Black. Do we not consider the time away from her job (stress). Maybe the person won’t get paid for that time off (stress). Maybe that person has transportation issues (stress). And then top it off with the worry of that if she doesn’t “comply” she will be labeled and God forbid, reported. These hospitals have lost their minds. Combating racism is inner work. And if you were truly doing the inner work, you wouldn’t come up with these crazy ass policies! Rant over!
