We’re so happy to welcome Annika Thakker, MFT intern and Northwestern University's Master's candidate, to the DVMA clinical team. ✨

Annika works with individuals, children, adolescents, couples, families, and young adults navigating relationship stress, life transitions, communication challenges, and emotional overwhelm. Her previous experience is working with neurodivergent youth and their families with those on the Autisic spectrum and ADHD.

Her approach is warm, grounded, and collaborative, helping clients feel safe enough to explore difficult emotions, better understand themselves, and create meaningful change.

As DVMA continues to grow, we’re grateful to expand the support and care available to our community.

But when your mind is constantly “on,” decisions start taking longer, and your patience feels shorter than usual - it’s often a sign something needs your attention, not more pressure.

April is Stress Awareness Month - A reminder that stress isn’t always about how much you’re doing, but how much you’re holding internally.

Creating small, consistent pockets to clear that mental load - whether by writing things down, pausing, or simply stepping away, can make a noticeable difference.

What HELPED you keep going, even when progress wasn’t obvious?

Therapy doesn’t always feel like visible progress.
Sometimes it can feel repetitive, unclear, or even “stuck.”

But a lot of the work happens internally - in how we begin to understand ourselves, sit with difficult emotions, and slowly shift long-standing patterns.

It’s part of the deeper process of healing within.
Feeling stuck doesn’t mean therapy isn’t working.
