Mountain Laurel Medical Center is excited to share that after reviewing multiple admirable nominations, Dr. Crystal Piras, Oakland Medical Director, is the recipient of our 2025 Core Value Role Model of the Year Award!

Below are a few examples of the many nominations she received:

"Although all providers are (or should be) "patient focused", I believe that Dr. Piras takes this to another level. She takes time with the patients, not just rushed in and out. She listens - even if that's not what the visit was scheduled for. Her care and compassion for patients is above any others I have seen. She takes extra steps to research new treatment plans, best locations for specific items, etc.
Her follow up with patients and staff is also outstanding. She is quick to reply to messages, quick to ask if she needs me to check on something, and I feel honored to be part of her team. I believe she respects ALL positions at MLMC and truly values her team (MA, nurse, referrals staff, PAS, etc).
Dr. Piras is also very supportive to her colleagues that often refer to her if they have questions. She is a leader for many here at MLMC and I think her commitment, teamwork, integrity, and patient focus is worthy of recognition."

"Dr. Piras will always place her patients first and treats everyone with respect. She is always available to help out other colleagues. She is always looking for ways to improve processes in the clinic. She is a wonderful provider, coworker and friend who goes above and beyond daily."

CEO Brian Bailey said, "Dr. Piras is not just “Crystal”, she’s also our Core Value Role model of the Year “Gem”! We are proud and excited to recognize the accomplishments of Dr. Piras and the vote of confidence she has received from not only her patients, but her team members. What differentiates her are the notable descriptions of “caring and compassionate, supportive to her colleagues, and a blessing and an honor to work with”. Thank you Dr. Piras for being an admirable addition to the culture of Mountain Laurel Medical Center and Congratulations!"

Please congratulate Dr. Piras as our Core Value Role Model of the Year!

Our Story

The Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) is a model for the delivery of primary health care in an office setting that is becoming widely implemented across the country as a means to build a reliable primary health care system that delivers accessible, affordable and high-quality health care.

The Patient Centered Medical home provides Comprehensive and Coordinated Care. PCMH strives to meet the majority of each patient’s physical and mental health care needs, including prevention and wellness, acute care and chronic care. This comprehensive care will be coordinated by a “team” of health care staff which will include physicians, advanced practice nurses and physician assistants, nurses, medical assistants, care managers, educators, social workers and the entire office staff working together to enhance the care and service within the office and community resulting in improved clear and open communication among patients and families, the medical home and the members of the broader care team.

PCMH provides for Superb Access to Care. The primary care medical home delivers accessible services with shorter waiting times for urgent needs, enhanced office hours and around the clock access by telephone to members of the health care team. The medical home practice is responsive to patient preferences regarding access.

Patient Centered Medical Home is a Systems-Based Approach to Quality and Safety. The primary care medical home is committed to quality care and quality improvement by ongoing utilization of evidence-based medicine and the use of tools and support guides to improve shared decision making with patients and families and the regular use of practice measurements and monitoring to improve patient care and outcomes while also measuring and responding to patient experiences and satisfaction.
