This week, we're honored to highlight Seven Generations (7G) Scholarship alum, Alani Brown! Alani is a member of the Elem Colony of Pomo Indians and earned her degree in Theatre Arts with a minor in Psychology from Chico State University in 2021.

Currently, Alani is working at NAHC, where she served as an Administrative Assistant for four years before being promoted to Site Operations Manager, supporting daily operations at our 7 Directions location.

Alani shared that the scholarship “had a major impact on my education. I was able to afford books and supplies, and the financial relief for myself and my parents was life-changing. It helped me pursue my passions and gain academic confidence. I felt like I was being seen in a different light, which helped me better see the potential in myself.” We're honored that support from our scholarship has helped so many Native students, like Alani, achieve their goals and work toward their full potential.

Outside of work, Alani stays connected to her community by attending powwows and cultural events. She's been proud to share the scholarship with others, including her brother, who was also a recipient, and is interested in supporting future applicants with writing their personal statements.

📌 Seven Generations Scholarship applications are open now and close May 15, 2026, at midnight 👉www.nativehealth.org/seven-generations-scholarship-fund

For the last several years, we’ve been hard at work bringing the Flicker building to life. This facility will feature our brand new state-of-the-art dental clinic and a large cultural community center.

Our excitement keeps building as we finish the final touches, and we can’t wait to open this space on June 1, 2026. ✨

We’re proud to highlight Devin, a member of the Scotts Valley Band of Pomo Indians, who successfully earned his degree in Criminal Justice with the support of the 7Generations Scholarship.

Today, Devin works at the Native American Health Center and continues to stay engaged with his community by attending powwows and tribal events with his home tribe.

Devin shared that the scholarship “was beneficial in completing my educational goals.” He’s also passionate about helping future recipients and would gladly serve as a resource to students considering applying.

The impact of the scholarship doesn’t stop there. Devin has already shared the opportunity with friends and family, including his sister, who also became a recipient!

⚽ Fun fact: Devin was part of the Little League soccer team coached by NAHC CEO Natalie Aguilera and her husband Solis.

The Tribal Doll Regalia group began in November 2025 at the Oakland Cedar Center as part of Red Vision programming and will conclude in mid-April as participants complete their dolls.

Participants researched their tribe’s traditional clothing and created regalia reflecting those cultural teachings, while sharing stories of family, culture, and values passed down from their ancestors.

The experience has created meaningful reflection and strengthened cultural identity. As the dolls are completed, participants express pride, cultural connection, and accomplishment. Completed dolls are planned to be displayed at the Flicker Cultural Center when it opens later this year!
