Philanthropy is a powerful force at Alameda Health System (AHS), sparking what we call infectious hope - the kind that sweeps through our hospitals and communities, changing lives for the better.

A young patient from Alameda County found hope at AHS during one of their darkest times. They were suffering from end-stage heart failure, resulting from a substance use disorder.

AHS teams listened with compassion. Understood the patient’s hopes and dreams. And then, they worked together to give them the second chance they deserved.

The patient began meeting with AHS substance use coordinators, a primary care doctor, and a persistent pharmacy technician who secured medications.

Today, they are off substances, living independently, and working. Their story is a testament to the exceptional care provided at AHS, and the extraordinary donors who help make it possible.

Like other public safety net health systems, AHS is already feeling the profound impact of federal budget cuts. ✨ Soul of Spring 2026—thank you for the magic. ✨

From the first welcome to the final song in the Orbit Room, you made Soul of Spring 2026 a night to remember. This Saturday, 550 guests gathered at the Henry J. Kaiser Center for the Arts in Oakland to celebrate and support the patients and programs of Alameda Health System—immersed in the vibrant spirit of the Harlem Renaissance.

Together, we honored champions of health access like Coach John Beam and the East Bay Community Law Center, enjoyed an intimate acoustic set by the incredible Chanté Moore, and raised critical funds to strengthen care across our community. 💛

From Laney College to communities worldwide inspired by Last Chance U, his legacy lives on through the lives he changed and the belief he instilled in generations. 💙

Now announcing our Community Partner Award honoree: East Bay Community Law Center (EBCLC)!

The East Bay Community Law Center (EBCLC) is an East Bay-based organization dedicated to advancing racial, gender, and economic equity by providing expert and holistic legal services to low-income Alameda County communities at no cost. For nearly 40 years, they have fought for justice and dignity for historically excluded East Bay communities, providing essential legal services to households that would otherwise go without. As one of the largest legal advocacy organizations serving communities of color in the Bay Area, EBCLC delivers over 5,000 services to nearly 4,000 clients every year.

We are honored to recognize this organization and the incredible work they do for our shared communities, and for being an incredible partner to AHS’s Project DULCE program.
