Cheers to the end of 2024! That one was a lot for me - long COVID wrecked a lot of my year and greatly shifted much of how I work and what I’m looking for in my life. In 2025 it’s all about accountability, integrity and checking ourselves along with letting go of guilt for having fun and the occasional indulgence. Let’s go!

November 18 is Cult Awareness Day. It marks the anniversary of the Jonestown massacre. Cults come in many different shapes and sizes, and can be incredibly subtle in how they harm participants. ⁣
⁣
The harm is psychological, emotional, mental, spiritual and physical. ⁣
⁣
A cult can be one on one like a relationship, it can be a family, a business, every MLM is a cult, large group awareness trainings are often cults, of course, high control, religions, and spiritual groups are cults. I would also add the wellness industry is very culty, especially in America.⁣
⁣
The harm I have seen patients encounter as a direct result of the alternative wellness industry includes severe financial losses, loss of time spent doing treatments that did not work, the development of eating disorders and disordered, eating behaviors, the development of a disordered relationship with healthcare and modern medicine, The exacerbation of illnesses that were treatable or preventable and loss of life. ⁣
⁣
Our modern medical system has failed us in many ways and is incredibly inaccessible for many people. Yet modern medicine is incredibly useful and helpful for patients. I strive to find a balance between ethical complementary care and modern medicine so that patients can find and access the best of both worlds.⁣
