Mental health care needs look different at every stage of life — from teens navigating anxiety to adults living with depression.

At Sutter's Alta Bates Summit Medical Center, a behavioral health program built to meet those needs has been designated an Evernorth Behavioral Health Center of Excellence.

The national recognition reflects strong performance across follow-up care, readmission prevention and care continuity, and a commitment to meeting patients with dignity and support at every stage of care.

For patients across the East Bay, it means access to high-quality behavioral health services grounded in compassion and long-term healing.

Big milestone for surgical innovation at Sutter!

Surgeons at Sutter’s California Pacific Medical Center and Sutter’s Alta Bates Summit Medical Center recently completed their first urological surgeries using a single incision with the da Vinci Single-Port robotic system. This advanced robotic technology allows surgeons to perform complex procedures through one small, single opening rather than multiple incisions. For patients, that may mean less pain, faster recovery and better health outcomes.

is a reminder to celebrate love, especially in life's hardest chapters. 💕

When Wyatt was diagnosed with an aggressive blood cancer, he told his care team at Sutter’s Alta Bates Summit Medical Center that his greatest wish was to marry his longtime partner, Nancy.

After Wyatt completed his first cycle of chemotherapy, rallied to make it happen, planning a beautiful ceremony right at the hospital. A Sutter physician officiated, a chaplain offered spiritual support, and members of Wyatt’s oncology team didn’t just attend, they stepped in as bridesmaids.

Congratulations to the newlyweds and heartfelt thanks to the team who made this unforgettable moment possible. ♥️💍

From the playing field to the operating room. 🩺🥼 Cal Bears student-athletes recently traded their jerseys for scrubs when they shadowed orthopedic surgeons and cardiologists at Sutter's Alta Bates Summit Medical Center.

From observing a knee procedure to watching an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) implant, they got real-world, hands-on experience and saw how teamwork and compassion come together to deliver great care. We're proud to help open doors to the future of medicine for the next generation of healthcare leaders!

We recently hosted a community event at Summit Campus Plaza in partnership with Go2Lung Cancer Foundation and the American Lung Association to raise awareness about lung health during Lung Cancer & COPD Awareness Month.

Attendees learned about lung cancer, COPD, asthma, and other respiratory conditions, emphasizing the importance of early detection and screening. Thanks to everyone who stopped by!

Hundreds of community members, staff, clinicians and supporters of Sutter’s Alta Bates Summit Medical Center and Sutter East Bay Medical Foundation came together for a luncheon benefiting women’s health and NICU services across the East Bay.

The event raised $2.6 million to expand care for women, infants and families throughout the region.

One very special guest stole the show — baby Seiori, who was born at just 23 weeks and spent 183 days in the NICU at Alta Bates Summit. Now nearly two years old and thriving, she returned to the event with her mom, Paris, to share a smile, a wave and a reminder of what compassionate care makes possible. 💕

Thanks to this generosity, Sutter’s East Bay expansion will bring larger neonatal suites, vital integrative services to pre and postnatal moms and families and advanced breast health care to more communities — ensuring that more parents and babies can experience the same hope and support that helped Seiori thrive. 🫶
