Interventional cardiologists at Sutter Health are embracing new technologies to extend lives – without open heart surgery. 🫀

Dr. Christian Spies at Sutter’s Alta Bates Summit Medical Center recently became one of the first in the Bay Area to use the newly U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved EVOQUE tricuspid valve replacement system on a heart failure patient in their 90s.

Love knows no bounds, and neither does compassionate care. 💌 Joe Dea has been a patient at Sutter’s Alta Bates Summit Medical Center since December and is now receiving palliative care. When Joe and Melissa decided to marry after 25 years together, his dedicated team of caregivers made it happen — organizing a heartfelt bedside ceremony in just 24 hours.

The truly inspirational Elena Griffing devoted 75 years of her life to healthcare, sharing her love of supporting patients and her fellow colleagues at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center. Always seen in her trademark heels, she brought so much joy to everyone she came across. She recently passed away at the age of 98 and will be deeply missed.
