United for Drug Policy Reform

United for Drug Policy Reform United for Drug Policy Reform is an all volunteer organization. The result? The Governor backed down! We are small, we are lean, we are mean.

Our members range from die-hard dope fiends to regular people who care about reducing stigma and saving tax dollars through evidence-based drug policy. When Governor Schwarzenegger threatened to cut Drug Medi-Cal in 2010, activists from United for Drug Policy Reform mobilized. We held demonstrations to defend drug treatment, held community speak outs and gathered 4,000 protest petitions that we delivered to the governor's office. We organized United for Drug Policy Reform at the OASIS Clinic in Oakland to give addicts a voice in drug policy-something that usually doesn't happen. Most of us are addicts ourselves, tired of failed policies that waste billions by criminalizing and incarcerating persons with addictions.
