Help improve transportation for older adults - Join our NIH backed research study!

We're looking for participants age 60 and older who have scheduled medical appointments in the Bay Area (CA) to participate in a PAID transportation study! Participants will receive free transportation in addition to compensation.

Backed by the NIH (NCT06850870) the study is an important step in making transportation safer, more reliable, and more accessible for older adults and individuals with cognitive or mobility impairments.

Yep - We’ll launch in counties where HonorHealth is present, so and counties to start, but as we grow in the region, we plan to expand the service area to support a larger audience. We will also support trips to or from Maricopa & Pinal counties, including longer distance trips, so long as the trip starts or ends within an active service region. Reliability is everything! Getting our riders where they need to go, on time, with the extra support of a Companion is Onward’s promise. Without a reliable network, we’d fall short.

As we develop our local Companion Driver team, we’re focusing on hiring the right people. We’re screening for key personality traits like empathy and caregiving backgrounds because we know individuals with a high EQ cultivate a supportive environment that ultimately translates to a reliable rider experience.

You bet - Launching with HonorHealth has a positive net effect for everyone in the Greater Phoenix Metro.

For individuals, caregivers, and healthcare facilities in the region, our self-service Companion Ride ordering function is available. We’re hiring and training local Companion Drivers which means there are more resources available for assisted transportation.

First of all - we're thrilled to be partnering with HonorHealth and the team in particular. It's been a pleasure working with their team.

Our efforts will focus around three main points:
1. Well deploy our transportation management software to help team members coordinate all levels of transport from Ambulance, to Wheelchair/Gurney, Companion Rides, and traditional rideshare.

2. We'll focus on enabling the lowest cost, most appropriate level of transportation for patients based on their assistance and support needs. Sometimes that might be a Companion Ride instead of a wheelchair van, sometimes that is a stretcher van instead of using limited ambulance resources - for example.

3. Finally, with enhanced transportation programs, we'll improve patient flow within the health system, saving their team members time by building a responsive network of transportation providers enabled with a streamlined request workflow in our platform.
