Krystal Cade, CMT

Krystal Cade, CMT Inclusive massage therapy for those seeking muscular pain relief, recovery, & relaxation. I am a muscle nerd. My hands just know where to go and what to do.

My name is Krystal (she/they), and I am an Alameda based certified massage therapist who enjoys helping my clients find relief and achieve their therapeutic goals in order to get back to thriving. I offer affirming and body positive massage therapy for people seeking muscular pain relief. I have always found fascination with the human body and have always enjoyed tactile exploration. I spent 8 yea

rs growing while working with chiropractic patients. I have often worked with injuries such as repetitive stress injuries, those in post-surgery rehab, and those who’ve been in car accidents. I have experience working with and guiding post-surgery scar tissue adhesions (including transition related top surgery) and I have seen the incredible results that can occur with the right bodywork. My curiosity and passion for bodywork means I am adept at finding problem areas quickly and efficiently. I have an intuitive approach to finding knots in tight muscles and connective tissue. I am admittedly a little heavy-handed at times, but since I know everyone is a little different, I will always adjust to accommodate each client's needs accordingly. I enjoy serving the general public. And…
I aim to be adamantly inclusive of my fellow LGBTQ+ POC communities.

We’re living in a time when many people are expected to function at full capacity while carrying unprecedented levels of stress and uncertainty.
Can massage therapy help with stress, anxiety, depression, and grief?

There is a growing body of research supporting massage therapy as a complementary approach for anxiety and depression. Stress and emotional strain can show up physically, and while massage therapy is not a substitute for mental health care, I see it as an important part of whole-person support. I approach this work the same way I do in all my sessions, with thoughtful communication centered on safety and consent.

Massage therapy can’t change systemic problems of course, but it can help the body’s ability to regulate itself in the face of them.

I recently went back to Ireland for a couple of weeks after visiting for a week last summer. I spent time in Dublin, Waterford, Cork, and even took an excursion to Shillelagh. Some of the many places I visited included historical sites and museums, including the Irish Emigration Museum, Trinity College Library, and St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin, Waterford’s Viking Triangle, Blarney Castle’s gardens and forest in Cork, and Brownshill Portal Tomb (called a dolmen) in Carlow. I also had the ability to connect with peers and community at the Dublin MindBody Expo, as well as at the Outhouse (the local LGBTQ Center in Dublin) and at LINQ Ireland (a center for q***r women and enbies in Cork). In Waterford I also found a plaque dedicated to Frederick Douglass (who I learned spent a significant time doing a lecturing tour in Ireland), and I also went horseback riding in the countryside near Claragh Mountain. I’m really grateful I was able to take this time to connect with the land, with the local communities, and with the rich, complex, and fascinating history of this beautiful island. If you have ever been to Ireland, tell me about some of your favorite places! And if you plan on going, feel free to reach out to me for recommendations. 😊☘️

Can massage therapy help with stress, anxiety, depression, and grief?
If you’ve ever walked into my treatment room after a long week—shoulders tight, breathing shallow, nervous system on edge—you already know the answer feels like yes. But there’s also plenty of research that shows why massage therapy helps support mental and emotional well-being. I think this is incredibly important and relevant, given the realities of daily life in this day and age with... *gestures broadly*... everything going on in the world right now.

Hi all!! 👋 I just wanted to give a quick reminder that I have a little promo still going until the end of the year. 🎁
All gift certificates purchased through December will get you 10% off a massage session with me.
It’s a wonderful gift for someone you care about, buts it’s also a good gift for yourself. Go for it, I won’t judge. 😉💜

Here’s a quick neck stretch for those pesky scalene muscles (the tight stringy muscles that run down the sides of your neck down into your shoulders and chest) plus the SCM gets attention too (front neck V-shaped muscles).

To start this stretch, lower your neck to one side (ear to shoulder),
Then reach over with same side hand to opposite side ear, and gently pull to stretch.
Raise the opposite arm (the side of the neck being stretched)—higher or lower if it feels good—and rotate that hand forwards and backwards.
Slowly and gently switch sides and repeat.
End with slow and gentle head/neck rolls one direction, then the other.
A bonus optional finish I like to do is some quick shoulder rolls and a shoulder shakeout!

Did you like this stretch? Did it help? Let me know! 😊 💜
