Malaria remains a significant public health challenge in Malawi and globally, with children under five and pregnant women making up nearly 80 percent of the estimated 597,000 malaria deaths worldwide in 2023. Without prompt treatment, malaria can rapidly escalate to severe illness and death, and pregnant women are even more susceptible to malaria infection, illness and death.
GAIA mobile clinics are working to change this: treating more than 631k malaria cases to date (45,851 cases in 2024 alone), GAIA mobile clinics are providing the prompt diagnosis and treatment critical to saving lives. And the robust antenatal care provided at GAIA mobile clinics includes malaria prophylaxis that is critical to the health of our pregnant clients’ and their unborn children.
GAIA is proud to join the global effort to ensure that “Malaria ends with us.”
