GENEROUS AUTHENTICITY
-------------------------------------------
Years ago I heard a teacher offer guidance to a student, who responded by saying something to the effect of, "But that's just not ME..."
The teacher looked down & paused, and what he said next has stayed with me, all these years later.
He said, "If you knew it would open the hearts of the people around you, would you do it anyway?"
There is a dynamic tension between Authenticity (or, who we know ourselves to be) & Generosity (or, offering our hearts in ways that may not always feel comfortable).
This dynamic tension is the space I have been exploring a LOT lately.
And what I am finding is there are many Me's.
In any given moment, there are a multitude of Truths, feelings & experiences that I could share or express.
AND, I have a tendency to choose the same flavors over & over again.
I am more comfortable with the calm & quiet flavors.
I am less comfortable with the angry & passionate ones.
I am more comfortable holding space for others.
I am less comfortable revealing my vulnerable heart.
I am being coaxed out, in various relationships to be more GENEROUS in offering myself - and not just the parts I typically feel comfortable sharing.
Right now, take a moment.
Notice what you are feeling.
What else?
And, what else?
Which of those feelings are you expressing externally & which are you likely to keep internal?
What wouldit look like if you let THOSE ones be expressed?
Even just a little more?
Even just in the privacy of your own room?
Or with one person you trust?
Can you be just a little more Generous with your love, by revealing MORE of yourself?
Love,
Kendra
