In this current political moment, it is normal to feel overwhelmed, scared, and hopeless. This is especially true if you are highly sensitive because you feel things so deeply. Often things that other people are unwilling to feel or acknowledge.

Sensitivity is both a gift and a responsibility because it allows one to see and experience the world in a way that can support positive change. At the same time, it requires one to take better care of oneself to prevent one from being immobilized by the state of the world.

That is why I am offering Embodied Sensitivity, A Monthly Somatic Workshop designed for highly sensitive people to bolster their resilience to the world's challenges.

✨ Join us on March 12th at noon PST for a space to nourish, uplift, and strengthen resilience in uncertain times. ✨

Learn somatic practices, trust your inner wisdom, and connect with others for support.

In a world that prioritizes productivity over well-being, we start to feel like there is something wrong with us for caring so much—for wanting people to feel seen, valued, and cared for.

In organizations prioritizing productivity and paperwork over the wellbeing of the people we are supposed to serve, we can feel like we are doing something wrong by prioritizing people’s wellbeing.

It can be so hard to stay warm in such a cold and frigid world.

It is like swimming in the cold ocean without a wetsuit; inevitably, the cold penetrates so deeply that it goes right into your bones.

I have come to realize that people who are deeply uncomfortable with their own emotions and internal experiences often want us to feel less. It is the people who uphold unjust systems and power dynamics who tell us to be more logical.

They may even be threatened by people who show a genuine sense of care and warmth, which results in attempts to make those with big hearts question themselves.

I don’t believe that the answer is to feel less. Our work is to learn how to stay warm in a cold world.

While there are things we can do to improve our stability, there will always be an element of unpredictability and uncertainty about the future.

When we fool ourselves into believing that we are in complete control of our lives, the reality of uncertainty can feel unbearable and lead to feeling out of control.

Trying to force a specific outcome or control things that are outside our control drains our energy and leaves us feeling depleted.

When we embrace the reality of uncertainty, we can save energy and strengthen ourselves to be prepared for whatever happens in the future.

Sometimes, all your body needs is for you to pay attention to it.

When we create space to tune into our own embodied experience, we all things to move through our system.

When we tune into our somatic experience, we can release tension and heavy emotions while accessing more energy.

When we ignore the body, our internal experiences will continue to get louder until we listen to them– as pain, tension, depression, extreme anxiety, and exhaustion.

Creating intentional time in your life to tune in and listen to your body can shift and release your experiences without having to yell to get your attention.

It is possible to find stillness during chaotic times.

This requires we connect to the stillness within our embodied experiences even as things are constantly changing.

Our frantic activation will not stop the world from changing.

Constantly being on edge is our body’s way of protecting us, but it can also keep us disconnected from our embodied wisdom.

When we can ground ourselves and be present with our fear, we can access a deeper state of clarity that points us to the skillful action we can take.

Working with the body to calm the mind is the most effective way to reconnect to our clarity and wisdom that will guide skillful action.

About Your Facilitator:
Hi, I'm Rachel Wilson (she/her). I help highly sensitive people reclaim their energy and reconnect with their intuitive wisdom, using their sensitivity as a force for positive change I believe systems change people, and people change systems. My work focuses on helping individuals resource themselves and honor their needs, buffering against the impacts of an unjust world while fostering a culture of connection and care. Trained as a clinical social worker and yoga therapist, and with personal experience experiencing care burnout, I created Somatic Tools for Personal and Collective Transformation to bridge the gap between individual and collective healing, promoting sustainable change by reconnecting to our bodies and their wisdom.

Self-expression is a healing modality.

Learning to connect deeply to your own truth and share that with others is a healing and generative process.

We can express ourselves through our words, bodies, movements, touch, images, or any other modality that engages our senses.

When we make our inner truth tangible in some way, we can relate to it differently.

We can transmit our experience to others, not as just a performance or commodity, but as something that others feel.

Hi, I'm Rachel Wilson, a psychotherapist, yoga therapist, and advocate for social justice. I've been working in diverse communities, ranging from juvenile hall and community-based public mental health to my private practice, for over a decade. Now I am integrating these experiences to bring you Somatic Tools for Personal and Collective Transformation because I believe you can’t fix a broken system alone.

When you are working to make positive change in the world, it is easy to end up feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, and maybe even a little resentful when your needs (if you even know what those are) seem less important than others.

I invite you to Powerful Sensitivity: Cultivating Connection to Self for Sustainable Transformation, a group coaching experience that will help you build your capacity to do the healing and social change work with integrity for the long run.

To ensure this program is the perfect fit for you, DM me Powerful, and we'll schedule a consultation call.

Building a connection with the body is more than understanding how our muscles and bones fit together and operate.

Learning how to inhabit our bodies allows us to connect to all the different experiences within our bodies.

Our bodies are not objects to be examined and analyzed. They are meant to be lived in and experienced.

When we learn to be present in our bodies, we become aware of the complexity of the embodied human experience and how it connects us to the larger stream of life.

The elements that reside in our bodies make up the world around us. The veins in our bodies mirror the veins within the trees.

Our bodies are impacted by the temperature, the seasons, and the natural conditions around us. We are deeply connected on a physiological level to the world around us.

When we learn to inhabit our humanity, we see that we are expressions of nature.

When we appreciate the sacredness of our bodies, we learn to build awareness from a place of reverence and awe.

It can be hard to heal and make healthy choices when we feel like we are leaving people behind.

When we choose to leave situations, environments, and people behind, it doesn’t have to mean that everything was bad.

There can still be love, care, and goodness in situations that no longer align for us.

Sometimes, it seems like we need to demonize our past or other people to move forward, but life is more complicated than that.

We can love people and appreciate our experiences in places and spaces that aren’t healthy for us anymore.
